There appears to be a problem with the intake manifold. Car is throwing a code of P200A. The baffles get stuck causing the car to lose power, usually 3 times in a row. I nearly got rear ended twice because of this and it threw my husband an myself toward the window.

Purchased a new car from Plaza Hyundai dealership in Brooklyn NY 5/25/2019, had problems a year later but due to covid, dealership wasn't open. Called Hyundai Consumer affairs May 2020 as I also found out there was an open recall that was supposed to be done with the ecm & cluster update-engine monitoring logic product improvement for Santa Fes from 2011-2019. There was and still is an open recall listed from 08/09/2018 that the car was still at Plaza Hyundai dealership for. In 2020, I was told that a buyback wasn't possible due to there not being any record of active recalls. On September 22, 2021, our car broke down on the highway, with it being the engine issue that is currently on recall. We have an unusable car still being paid for, a car that shouldn't have been sold to us because it was on recall, a car that should've been buyback but wasn't due to greed, and no answers as Hyundai is saying that the buyback period has ended since the first use was February 2018, even though we became owners of the car 5/25/2019. The component that failed was the engine. Its currently in Plaza Hyundai's service lot. Our safety was put at risk not once but twice, but the most recent being 9/21/2021, we were on a major highway at 70mph when the engine started to slow down, smoke, and vibrate violently. The vehicle is currently being serviced for parts, but they don't think its the engine. There were previous issues but I would have to recollect on the memory of when.

The contact owns a 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport. The contact stated that the oil warning light illuminated while driving at various speeds. Upon inspection of the vehicle, the contact discovered that his vehicle was consuming a quart of oil every 1,000 miles. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer where an oil consumption test was performed, and the mechanic informed him that the oil consumption was normal. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and provided him the same information as the dealer. The vehicle and yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

On 9/22/21, was driving on a major highway when gears started spinning loudly, acceleration went down to 30mph from 65mph, car started vibrating and smoke coming from the exhaust. Made it safely to the next exit without incident by a prayer and slowly made our way to a Hyundai dealer at 5-10mph, any faster would shut down the car. We barely made it and tow truck came and towed it to original dealer that sold it to us. Previously we told them about the recall update but it went on deaf ears from the dealer and Hyundai. Now we don't have a car, and most likely needs a new engine.

First my car started consuming and alarming amont of oil at 40000 to 50000 miles in 2020. I have been put through 3 oil consumption test and every 1,000 miles i took it in it was consuming more oil. One time it had lost 4 quart of oil in 1,000 miles with no oil leaks detected. They never did anything about it. Early 2021 While i was on the highway in traffic going 70 miles per hour. Mile car started to sputter and slowed down to 30 miles per hour in the middle of the highway at night. I was so afraid that i would be hit. Another time it slowed down on the highway 1 day after i got an oil change and i was out of town on a sunday. The car was struggling to get up a highway hill at 25 miles an hour with other cars going well over the 70 mile speed limt. I was terrified. The dealer finally admitted that the engin is bad but Hyundai will not replace it. Help please!!!!!

Vehicle died when driving on city street then would not start. Had to have vehicle towed. Was told it was the alternator and the battery is dead. Hyundai won't replace the battery as they said battery was over 3 years old. The battery was fine until the alternator killed the battery. Vehicle is still at dealership so I don't have any paperwork yet

I have been stopped at a single light (on a state highway) and waiting to turn left but when I accelerated the vehicle did not go. But in a second it took off but I braked because by now it was not safe/clear to go. Also, when I use cruse it goes down hill while raising the rpms (always), this is my third Hyundai vehicle therefore I have never had this happen before.

80 miles into a weeks vacation my engine light came on, car was still drivable, backtracked 20 miles to dealer, left my nice car (11,000 miles)there for the week while using a rental car with 177,000 miles on it. Problem was pertaining to campaign 953 engine problems. A wiring harness was put in, and the dealer updated the software that had been updated that March, and they said that was all fixed. I have watched the video on this campaign problem, and it scares me where I cannot take my car out of town/on vacations out West! if this engine fails, I wouldn't always be able to get to a dealer. I'm living in the fear of this, and am supposed to have "peace of mind" enjoying my nice car? I had to leave vacation a day early( resort paid for that final night we didn't get to enjoy), spent that night in hotel, just to get to that dealer to pick up my car before their closing time. I had to fight to get the full reimbursement for the car rental and one night hotel bill. Through the attorney generals office, Hyundai finally paid that which was only fair when a recall was involved! now I find that I have cancelled going to out of town funerals, and short weekend vacations, because my engine could go out. I have asked for a new engine, and the last message from Hyundai was all about my car doesn't fit the description for the lemon law....which I have never mentioned.I have asked for statistics on how many engines have had to be replaced because of this campaign 953 issue, but no one has any! is this true"? how can I get my engine replaced, so I can enjoy my car" that video should never have been out there if I and others have to keep driving with an engine that can be dangerous in many ways!

The contact owns a 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe sport. While driving with a half tank of fuel in the vehicle, it began to stall on the highway. The contact noticed fuel coming out of the exhaust and the vehicle ran completely out of fuel as she pulled over to the shoulder. The state police pulled up behind her and ordered her to get away from the vehicle due to the fuel and fumes. The vehicle was towed to M.J. sullivan Hyundai (452 broad St C, new london, ct 06320, 860-437-6179) where it was diagnosed that two fuel injectors were stuck open and caused the vehicle to stall. The contact noticed a large amount of fuel was in the oil pan due to the dipstick. According to the dealer, the manufacturer suggested that they replace the fuel injectors, drain the oil, and place new oil in the engine. The dealer stated that was all they would do to the vehicle. The contact called the manufacturer to get a case for a possible buyback. The manufacturer denied the buyback request and offered one month car payment to resolve the matter. The manufacturer suggested the contact reach out to the better business bureau. The dealer refused to provide a loaner vehicle. The vehicle was retrieved and driven to the contacts home. The failure mileage was 14,210. The VIN was unknown.

While driving my practically new 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe sport with 11,653 miles, it suddenly jerked out of cruise at 65 mph and the dashboard lit up along with the touch screen that said to call customer care immediately. A nice man at the other end of the phone checked my car as I was driving but could find nothing after running the diagnostic. He said I should be able to drive it about another 300 miles but should get to my dealership as soon as possible. I told him I was over 300 miles from home so he helped locate a Hyundai dealership closer and I headed that way while still talking to the customer care guy. As I was getting on the on-ramp to travel I-35, the car jerked and acted like it lost power and I pulled over. The guy called a tow truck to come after the car and have it towed to the dealership. My car went to the nearest dealership where they ran a diagnostic and could not find anything either and said they had to wait on Hyundai corporate to authorize them to check the engine. That took several more days but once they received the authorization, they dropped the oil pan and found metal shavings in the oil which indicated my engine was blown and would need a replacement. Initially, they said it might take up to 6 weeks. After several phone calls Hyundai finally assigned me a case number and a case manager. The case manager was worthless, would not return my calls or send any updates about the status of my vehicle. Finally, Hyundai corporate assigned me another case manager and after looking at my state's lemon laws, I asked them to buy my car back from me. The second case manager sent me a letter asking for some documentation and told me they would send a re-purchase offer. That was over a month ago and I still have heard nothing from Hyundai. It has now been 83 days since my car quit with no resolution in sight.

On 2/19/2019 an update for the knock sensor was done on my vehicle. After the update I was driving on an entrance ramp to the highway when my vehicle lost power upon acceleration. I was told by the dealership this is called limp home mode. I was told by the dealership it is likely due to the update done on the knock sensor and to drive it to their dealership. I did not feel it was safe to drive any further than necessary so I had it towed. The dealer ran a diagnostic and it came back it needs a new engine. The current engine only has approx. 13,000 miles on the odometer. The dealer requested a new engine from Hyundai which was approved in a few days. The dealer said they are having several other vehicles of this same make, model and year come in for the same problem. It was very hazardous having a vehicle unable to accelerate to speed on an entranxe ramp to the highway yet alone anywhere. With all the recalls and lack of information given to me from Hyundai or the dealership it has made me very uneasy about what we're not being told

On 2/8/2019 an update for the knock sensor was done on my vehicle. On 2/18/19 I was driving up a steep hill on a highway when my vehicle lost power upon acceleration. I was unable to go faster than 17 mph uphill and 50 mph on level highway (speed limit is 70 mph). It was 16 degrees F and I had an infant in the car. I was told by the dealership it is likely due to the update done on the knock sensor and to drive it to their dealership. I did not feel it was safe to drive any further than necessary so I had it towed (I had to pull over constantly because the speed limit is 70 mph). The dealer ran a diagnostic and it came back it needs a new engine. The current engine only has approx. 14,500 miles on the odometer. The dealer requested a new engine from Hyundai but it has not been approved yet and they believe it is a result of the knock sensor update. They estimate I will not have my vehicle repaired for at least 3 months. The dealer said they are having several other vehicles of this same make, model and year come in for the same problem. It was very hazardous having a vehicle unable to accelerate in winter with an infant in the car. I was in a remote area and this could have had the potential for a much worse outcome than it did.

Check engine light comes on and testing shows 3rd cylinder has as fuel-oxygen imbalance. Has happened twice. Light went off the 2nd time. Brand new car. It happened at 2,500 and 5,000 miles. Had it checked by Hyundai the first time and they didn't see any other problems, chalking it up to a malfunction. Someone told me it could be a bad fuel injector; bad sensor; or a miscalibration of the engine/fuel injector
