I have a 2016 Hyundai tuscon ltd. 1.6 turbo, with a dual clutch transmission (dct). I love this vehicle's design, features, and specs. This car would be fantastic if it were not for the hazardous, defective, and dysfunctional dual clutch transmission. October of 2016 NHTSA had Hyundai to issue a recall and in 2017 a computer software update. Neither has fixed the (dct) issue. From a complete stop or a slow rolling stop, the vehicles' transmissions lag, shudder, buck, hesitate, and lurches forward shifting between the first couple of gears. At its worst it seems to stall then propel forward uncontrollably. After the 2nd gear the transmission transitions smoothly. This safety hazard comes into play when drivers are attempting to merge onto the highway or traffic. Espically when attempting to time and shoot a gap in the flow of traffic. The vehicle may or may not accelerate effectively or at all. This unpredictable performance is extremly dangerous and liable to cause or continue to cause accidents. The only way to avoid this issue is to drive the vehicle in "sport mode!" the dct issue seems to only affect "eco" and "regular" driving modes. There are hundreds of complaints and testimonies revolving around the dct problem. It is a known problem with consumers, dealerships' service departments, and Hyundai Consumer Affairs. After the intial recall and software updates on the dct problems, the vehicles still demonstrate the same poor and defective dct performance. Now the service departments and Hyundai Consumer Affairs are no longer acknowledging the dct defect. They simply reply that the issue was recalled and fixed in 2016 and 2017 and that "the car is performing the way it was designed to, " despite the clear and apparent design flaw! Hyundai is making it clear to the consumers that they will not revisit nor take accountabilty of the faulty dual clutch transmission.

I have a 2016 Hyundai Tucson and experiencing transmission problems of slow start after a rolling kind of stop/go situation.it got really bad and started screeching when in a stop/go situation or from a stop. Multiple visits to dealerships and all they can say that this is a common problem with this model and there is no fix. Simple research and I found many others with the same issue. In fact Hyundai acknowledge the issue and released a software patch but has not fixed the issues. It is very dangerous to drive the car as it does not move forward while pressing on gas.

When changing the car from reverse to drive it bucks/shudders (not every time, but frequently enough to be concerning). When first put into drive after sitting all day it'll boost forward and shudder and continue to do that if you roll along at slow speeds. Sometime if you are turning and press the gas it will either not move quickly enough or suddenly boost forward. Dealer has reset boost sensor, replaced boost sensor, and replaced terminal boost sensor plugs into. I'm still experiencing this issue.

My truck continually stall & stop in traffic it makes a loud knocking, ticking hissing sound while driving. Faulty fuel pump and fuel injectors causing unbearable burning smell. It rolled backwards while at a traffic light. Engine failed and the car stayed in the shop from 6/11/18 to 9/4/18 and returned on 9/6/18 then released on 9/18/18 and returned on 9/18/18.

I have owned a 2016 Hyundai Tucson for 2.5 years. In that time it has been in for several issues that can not be duplicated when at the service center and deemed "working fine, no codes present at this time". my issues have included loss of transmission control after a stop (software update fixed), intermittent headlamp that won't turn on, the media displaying "battery discharge warning" while car was running and in motion (headlamp replaced after several times taking to the dealership and I was lucky enough to have the warning light go on while the technician was there). Now the computer/dash board is restarting itself at 45 mph. This has occurred two times. The dash board went dark for 1 second and then started back up through is startup sequence. During this time, the engine is still running but I have no control over the transmission. If you push on the gas pedal it will increase rpms but not accelerate. During this time it is necessary to pull over and turn the car off and then back on. Again, no codes thrown and not reproducible at the service center. The service center found that the positive battery terminal was not completely tight and thought maybe this caused the issue. I am frustrated that something that could happen easily as this doesn't show up as an error since it caused a unsafe driving environment. 24 hours ago, while trying to make a left hand turn at a busy street the car started forward when gas pedal pressed but then stopped moving forward only to lurch forward after a second and pick up speed. I know that if I take it in for this it will be the same story: "we found nothing wrong. No codes thrown, bring it back if it happens again." This car is not safe to drive and the manufacture will not buy it back since there was no defect found...

The engine oil pressure warning light turned on without any auguries while driving on a highway. We pulled over the car as soon as possible, but the car could not be started again after we turned off the engine. We had the car towed to a Hyundai dealership, and then we were told the engine was seized and needed to be replaced. When we asked how it happened, they told us that our engine oil plug was missing, so all the engine oil was drained out. They checked our maintenance record, and found that we had an oil change three months back at another Hyundai dealership. We were told that it could be possible that the engine oil plug was not properly installed during last maintenance service, but they were not sure about it, after all it had been 3 months not 30 minutes since then. We were never given a sure reason for what happened to the car, but the engine replacement was taken care of by Hyundai warranty. Personally I don't think the 'maintenance mistake' hypothesis make sense. We did not drive this car daily, maximum average usage was about weekly, but long distance most times. If the plug was loose due to the maintenance, we should have a problem sooner unless the oil doesn't drain when a car is parked. In addition, it could not be someone loose the plug at a parking lot on purpose either. Because when we drove the car out, we did not notice any oil trace on the ground, and we had been continuously driving this car for about 2 hours before the engine failure happened. The most possible reason that I could think of is the engine was defective. I am hoping this issue can be brought into a formal investigation, because it could lead to very serious consequences.

When accelerating I step on the gas and the car barely moves forward and then you can feel the transmission disengage while the rpms continue to rise but at this point you are stuck in the middle of an intersection with no power, im sure you can imagine the safety concerns with this. Then, sometimes 2 seconds, sometimes 5-10 seconds later the transmission engages and the car launches forward due to the high rpms. Im sure this isnt good for the transmission and it is easy to lose control of a car launching in this manner. We have had numerous close calls on the road. There are also times when I step on the gas and the rpms rise but the car does nothing at all. I will put it in park and then drive multiple times and the car still wont move. I have had to turn the car off in the middle of an intersection in order to get the transmission to work properly. When I brought these complaints to Hyundai they said they were aware and told me they had just issued a recall. So I brought my car in to have it fix. I was really excited to finally have what I paid for. Well, I was extremely disappointed when I picked up the car because the recall did absolutely nothing. We are actually experiencing these problems more frequently. Some technicians and Hyundai motors usa tell me that I dont know how to drive a dual clutch transmission and say that I shouldnt expect the car to accelerate when I step on the gas. Let me repeat, I shouldnt expect the car to accelerate when I step on the gas! they also sent me a youtube video to teach me how to drive a dual clutch transmission which I found insulting. I know how to drive a car! other technicians from arapahoe Hyundai admit that there is a major safety issue with this car and they would never put their family in one. The NHTSA needs to investigate this car and take it off the road.

The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Tucson. While driving various speeds, the vehicle would not properly accelerate and the engine stalled. The vehicle was towed to the dealer (lafontaine Hyundai in dearborn, mi) where it was diagnosed that the engine was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.

This SUV stutters and hesitates on acceleration. At a stop entering traffic lanes very unsafe while idling will stumble and shake. Rpms will ramp up with no transmission engagement. This is our 3rd transmission I don't think Hyundai has a fix for this transmission problem. Car was $35000 what happens when warranty expires? unsafe. Unacceptable multiple similar complaints about this model and its transmission online Hyundai offers no long term solution

My car has difficulty accelerating (7X), inability to reverse (2X), and a transmission error that limits my speed (2X). Trouble accelerating is present in all cases. I bought the car new in October 2015, and a recall on the dual clutch transmission (dct) was done in February 2016. The recall was to fix a known problem of the car's inability to accelerate after repeatedly pressing and releasing the accelerator. The problems started in May 2016 after the software update. I took my car to Hyundai and was told it was a normal operation of dct. In December 2016, the second part of the dct software update was done. Once the warmer weather came, my car had the same issues in April 2017, June 2017 (taken to dealer, update), September 2017, three times in October 2017 (taken to dealer, normal), and twice in May 2018. All occurrences were in warm weather (77 degrees to 82 degrees) after the car had been sitting outside all day. Prior to October, all incidences were trouble accelerating after stopping in traffic on the highway. However, one incident in October is also when my car wouldn't reverse, and the other had a transmission error that would not allow me past 51mph. For the second occurrence in may, the car was driven for about two miles, stopped at a store parking lot with the ac running for about five minutes, then had difficulty accelerating, the transmission error appeared again at 32mph limiting my speed, and I could not reverse. I called the dealership and drove the car to them. The mechanic believed my issue and did not want to drive it. My car has been into the dealer five times, and I was just told that my car is acting normally. They are ready to release the car to me; however, I have stressed the safety issue and refuse to take the car back. This car is not reliable and could cause an accident with injury or death. I filed a complaint with Hyundai corporate.

The car doesn't reliable accelerate after pressing the accelerator peddle. Intermittently it takes up to 5 seconds before the car starts to move from a stop. Trying to pull out into busy traffic has cause near accidents on many occasions. You may push the peddle down and it sit there and then all of a sudden shoot forward. It has been into the dealer over 6-7 times and they state "they all do that". it has been that was since we bought it in 2016 and have been working with a lawyer since but have stopped due to fees.

2016 Tucson limited with 1.6 turbo engine. I have had recent problems with the car bogs down or seem to cut of when I accelerate from a stop or very low speed. This has happened when I am trying to merge in traffic from an off ramp, pulling out of a parking lot and trying to get in another lane in traffic from a stop. As soon as I pressed the accelerator the car would stop as if the engine ha cut off. I have to try to manually downshift to1st gear or switch to a sport mode for the car to respond. In heavy traffic trying to merge from an off ramp or change lanes or even leaving parking lots to merge on highway. This has occurred quite frequently and I have some very narrow mishaps with cars slamming on their brakes to avoid running in to me. I am a very experienced driver who has driving professionally for over thirty years including tractor trailers with many safety awards. It is only because of my experience that a serious accident has been avoided so far. Each time this has happened I reported it to the dealer service department and asked if there were any recalls or service notices and have had no recourse this seems to be getting worse over the nearly two years I have the car. I am afraid to let my wife drive the car for fear that she might be involved in a serious or worse accident. The dealer has only told me not to drive in eco mode any more, I have done every thing they ask including using premium gas, more service driving in different modes. I have driven many different types of vehicles, cars and trucks and have never had this problem with a new vehicle and the service tech has no idea what to do.

No acceleration from a stop, rolls back when at a stop of any incline, lunges forward after a stop since the transmission is not working properly. In every mode it does the same, they did a software update a few months ago, but it did not help at all. My daughter goes to college out of state and is always very nervous about driving her car. I am nervous as a parent so far away. This is very dangerous and they need to fix it. The car has been in 3 times to note it in the file, when she gets back this may we are hoping to have it bought back for something else. When in traffic, the stalling is even worse. She has almost hit cars in front of her since there is so much hesitation in the engine and transmission.

I finally get to a dealership for Kia and agent told me they had to check for recalls on the engine because past cars like 2014,2015,2016 all had engine trouble. Then told me engine is knocking and I should park it to avoid further damage. I told him but car is only a year old. Bought it in 2016 brand new; but because of my negligence of getting the oil change on time; I have to cover my own repairs.---again no indicator telling me its out of oil or running hot came on.

When starting from a complete stop or stationary, the car hesitates, almost seems to choke, and then lurches forward with a burst when trying to enter into traffic. It is hard to anticipate whether it will move or not when trying to pull out into traffic from a stop sign. Once moving the car seems to operate and accelerate without any problem. This issue was noted in an earlier recall (August 2016). A software "fix" was implemented. Immediately afterward, I felt there was some small noticeable positive change. However, any early indication of improvement has now been lost. It is deeply concerning that the car may choose to go or not when trying to pull out into traffic. This happens extremely often - almost daily. While I selected a date of occurrence below, it was only to satisfy the form's requirements.

I had taken my tuscon in 3 different times for all the same issues every time (1) delayed acceleration from a complete stop while crossing oncoming traffic with my 2 yr old son in the car (2) not accelerating at all from a complete stop but the RPM's revving high before finally jerking into gear and taking off and (3) jerking when I am in traffic and I press the gas. All 3 times, the "repair" was explained to me as a "computer update". the car would drive fine for about a week, then the issues would resume. The service dept told me this is how the dct works. Then I saw that there was finally a recall being issued and I thought "oh yay! they finally figured out what the problem was so I can take it in this one last time and I'll be good to go!" after only one day we were back to the same issues. The service dept once again said that "unfortunately, computer updates will be a normal thing for this dct system" are you freakin' kidding me"! this is not normal! you mean to tell me that every time my car starts stalling while I am crossing oncoming traffic, potentially causing an accident that could cause my son, myself or someone else serious injury, if not death, that I need to bring it in for a "computer update"?" they also suggested that I try driving it in sport mode all the time or using the manual shifter to see if that would help with the hesitation and/or stalling and jerking. If I wanted to shift, I would have bought a manual. When I press the gas, I want to go. I don't want to worry that this might the time that the transmission doesn't quite engage in time while I'm crossing traffic and something serious/fatal happens. I am extremely unhappy with this car, I am extremely unhappy with the dealership and their passive attitude towards this ongoing issue but most of all, I feel extremely unsafe in this vehicle and no one seems to be taking that seriously.

Lack of professionalism and courtesy on Hyundai's part to retract this vehicle is astounding. I'm unsure how there is a 5 star safety rating on this unsafe vehicle. Hyundai has refused to repair my vehicle. Every time it has been seen and "fixed" it comes back worse than it was before. The lag is substantial, it jerks constantly, I can't accelerate when already in motion or stopped in traffic, or even moving out of a parking stall. I am typically in the middle of an intersection when lagging and no acceleration occurs, and all too often I'm already in motion on the interstate and can no longer move. A light came on and said the transmission was overheated twice as a brand new vehicle just going 3mph. My car then died, luckily I was pulled over when I noticed the light. These constant issues I've been having have been since the date of purchase on July 8, 2016. It only had 50 miles on the vehicle at that time. I get regular maintenance and take care of this vehicle, but I can't handle the stress of driving it anymore! every time I submit a claim on here, no one reaches out to resolve this issue. I've spoken with Hyundai national and regional offices, Hyundai service locations, and the BBB. What will it take for you to see that this vehicle is a real danger, not only to me, but to everyone on the road!"!?!?!"!
