Since we bought our car it has had several recalls as well as electrical, computer based, and power train issues. None of which were explainable. We were sinply told to take it to Jeep, put hundreds of dollars in to fix it and get it back. We've only had the car for abut 4 years. Yesterday, within a month of the last occurence, our car has frozen on us and will not start. Jeep hasn't done anything about this. We've known several other people who have had this same make and model who have had the same problems. We are not in a financial position to keep putting money into a car that should last us longer, or to sinply just trade it in since we still owe 10K on the car. This has also put our kids safety at jeopardy, has caused us loss of work days on top of putting us in a more financial burden. There needs to be something done about this. It is unfair that we soent so much money on a car that has malfunctioned several times due to being built so poorly.

The car will begin to hesitate and then the transmission will go into a neutral state, but the lights will not show that it is in neutral. The car will roll forward or backward depending on where you are. You cannot shift, when you do try to shift, the car will jolt like the engine is going to fall out of the car. Turning the engine off and on, several times, while waiting each time clears the problem. Jeep can not reproduce this it so they will not fix it. Will get a message on dash stating to service trasmission and parking break. This has happened at least 5 times that I have documented by pictures and video on my phone however, has happened a lot more. Specific dates documented are 11/19/17, 11/21/17, 11/29/17, 12/13/18, 4/2/19.

My Jeep Cherokee electronic parking brake has come on by itself and it cannot be turned off. This first happened at the end of last year and I brought it to the dealer and I had to pay for the electronic parking brake switch to be replaced. Last week it happened again and I brought it back to the dealer and they told me that now the electronic parking brake connector and electronic parking brake module both need to be replaced at a cost of $1500 plus. Doing a search on the internet reveals that this is a common problem with Jeep Cherokee. I am afraid to drive the vehicle as this can happen anytime and it is unsafe. To drive. Looking on the Jeep website they have issued a service bulletin that covers the exact issue - electronic parking brake module connector water intrusion. The problem that they claim is due to water damage and it is in a spot where I find it hard to believe any water can get in.

I bought my 2014 Jeep Cherokee Oct.2016 I noticed when I would come to a stop or pull out it would stay stuck in the gear and then all of a sudden it like kicked into the gear with a jerk. I took it back to the service department and they told me there wasn't anything wrong. Well, it has never stopped and has gotten worse. What upsets me that there was a recall on this Jeep July 12, 2016 NHTSA campaign number: 16V529000 transmission may shift unexpectedly to neutral if the vehicle unexpectedly shifts to neutral, there is an increased risk of a crash. What makes it worse the dealership was unaware of this when they sold it or when I brought it back?? Friday I left work at 6 am I drive an hour I drive on busy highways my Jeep suddenly lost power on a dbl lane road with cars behind me and to the left, I am thankful I was on the right side that I could drift over to the side, but the snow that was packed along the guard rails still left me 1/2 in the lane flashing something about my transmission. Thank god I was not on Pennsylvania, interstate 70 when this happened because it would have been a major catastrophe with multiple vehicles and tractor trailers. I call the dealership where it was bought told him what had happened...I got an appointment in about 2 weeks this Jeep is unsafe!!!! plus there are other issues with it.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the transmission gears slipped without warning when the vehicle was started. While the vehicle was idling at a stop, a warning indicator near the gear box indicated that the gear was shifted when it really was not. In addition, the vehicle randomly stalled several times intermittently. The contact was uncertain if the failure was related to NHTSA campaign number: 16V529000 (power train). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. While driving 70 mph, the gear shifter failed to move into neutral and the service transmission warning indicator illuminated. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road and powered off the engine. Then vehicle was restarted and was able to drive; however, the failure recurred five miles down the road. The contact stated that the coolant increased to 200 degrees. The vehicle was taken to Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram 24 (1020 belmont St, brockton, MA 02301, (781) 961-1550) where it was diagnosed that the transmission, four spark plugs, one coil pack, an auto grill shotter, and jumper harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 99,000.

While driving on a 4 lane highway at 65 mph the vehicle partially lost power and would not accelerate, up shift, or ownshift, the brake lights started flashing, along with many other lights on the dash including check engine. I pulled over to the side of the highway and shut off the Jeep. I waited a minute then started it back up. The service parking brake message was on the message center, the odometer is blinking, and 4WD is temporarily unavailable. I had it looked at by a mechanic and they showed me the park brake module had water intrusion and was very much corroded.

Brought vehicle in to the dealership for repairs on several ocassions with complaints of vehicle jumping into gear. Recently had to replace the battery because vehicle wouldn't stay running and could not put into gear. Vehicle is currently at the dealership because it was leaking oil. Have been told that the oil cooler needs to be replaced. Have also been told that the drive shaft is noisy and should be replaced and that the air temperature ambient sensor needs to be replaced. I gave the go ahead to replace the oil cooler and air temperature ambient sensor. Told them to hold off on replacing the drive shaft as the repair alone for the oil cooler and sensor was going to be approximately $1,300. I then received a call back and was told that they changed the oil cooler and upon trying to start the vehicle it didn't want to start. They told me multiple codes were coming up and that my instrument cluster needed to be replaced at an additional cost of over $1,000. Estimate for all repairs to be $2,500 plus. Was also told that the instrument cluster is a special order and once ordered they would have to hold my vehicle for two weeks until it came in and could be installed. It is costing me $35 a day for a rental vehicle through them. I estimate total cost for repairs and rental to be about $3,000. This cost does not include the replacing the drive shaft which they tell me is noisy.

The car stalls when pressing on the gas then jolts into gear making it feel and sound like I've been hit from behind, it is slow to accelerate at times and other times it accelerates extremely faster when I lightly push the gas, it will also decelerate at times when trying to accelerate, the electrical will flash all the signals and tell me to service the transmission after I fill my tank mostly and the car will shut off when I stop at a light and jerk until input it in park and turn it off while sitting in traffic. The controls to the lift gate do not always work when pressed inside of the vehicle. The check engine light is constantly on when I took it to the dealer the diagnostic said it was a sensor and valve but the dealer kept the car for a week and only changed the oil which was not needed and shut the light off only for it to come back on one day after I had to demand they fix my car or give it back because they were just holding it on the lot, the suspension and shocks are off they keep wearing my tires and the button for the shift gear fell off while I was attempting to put the car in gear which is an obvious defect

When I'm driving my car will just stall without warning until the car becomes to a complete stop. This has happened to me at least 4 times beginning 10-27-18 and the last time was 11-08-18 and I had it towed to the dealerships designated shop and was told that they couldn't find anything wrong with it that could be fixed. They also told me they had other customers complaining about their Jeep-Cherokee stalling on the freeways and in the middle of traffic. My vehicle stall on me when I was driving on the streets and I would only get a few feet from home and one of those times the battery light would come on and another time the light came on for driving on on hill or something in that effect.

Traveling on town road. The battery light came lit up on the control panel with a warning to put vehicle in park. Engine completely shut off. Gas pedal unresponsive. We pulled over to the side of the road. Tried to restart vehicle several times over the course of 15+ minutes. Vehicle finally restarted like normal. Turned vehicle around by crossing over double yellow lines, put in reverse. Vehicle completely shut off leaving us disabled across road, same warning and battery light on. Engine finally restarted 10 minutes later. Returned the vehicle safely home.

My Jeep Cherokee keeps repeating the same problems. This has been going on for more than a year. Sometimes I am terrified to drive because I do not know what is going to happen. Today and on other days, the Jeep has cut off on me a few times while in motion on a city street and sometimes when turning. The vehicle slams into gear when driving sometimes and feels like I am getting hit in the rear of the car. It is very dangerous because you don't know when it is going to happen. Today, the Jeep almost caused an accident when it just stopped on its own. Additionally, it often shifts gears erratically and very rough, even jerking at times. The dealership said they did a software update but this did not resolve the issue. I have taken to the dealer at least three times about this issue and I keep getting stalled saying either come back in 500 miles so the can do an oil consumption test or that they cannot duplicate the issue. Each time I take it in they say the did a software update or an oil change. The problem remains.

On date of incident vehicle functioned fine in the morning. At 4:30pm when I went to leave work vehicle wouldn't start. Received several error messages including 4WD system unavailable, park brake unavailable and service shifter. 2 hours later nothing worked. Tried to jump the vehicle and was able to get it started. Had auto zone test battery and said it was fine. Took to dealership and they ran tests finding no cause or issues. Battery passes their tests. Morning after I got vehicle back from dealer it started up via remote start with no issues, took son to daycare 7 minutes away. After about 10 minutes went to leave daycare (vehicle was turned off) and it did not start. Was able to get it to start with a jump. Called dealership to inform them, waiting for a call back now. Check engine light is on.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. While driving 65 mph in the rain, the windshield wiper motor failed and the exterior and interior lighting shut off. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road. Once the vehicle was restarted, the lights turned back on and the vehicle operated normally. The vehicle was taken to bemidji Chrysler center (located at 755 paul bunyan dr nw, bemidji, mn 56601, (218) 751-8006) where it was diagnosed, but a failure could not be found. In addition, while driving 35 mph, the steering wheel seized and the brake pedal failed to stop the vehicle when it was depressed. As a result, the contact crashed into a fence. There were no injuries. A police report was not filed. The dealer was not notified. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The vehicle was able to be driven from the scene and was not diagnosed for the brake and steering failures. The approximate failure mileage was 37,000.

My 2014 Jeep Cherokee trailhawk started having issues where traction control would engage when stopped at a light and it would stay on until the car was turned off. This progressed to an instance where I was stopped at a light and traction control engaged while stopped and the engine stalled. I took the car to the Jeep dealership and the only code was to check wire connections, which they said they did. The car drove fine for about one day, then, while on the highway, the dashboard and radio would start to cut out briefly and come back on. Once I was off the highway and stopped at a light, traction control engaged. At the next light, the car stalled again. I used a code reader and there were no codes available. This could cause an accident if the car loses power when driving at highway speeds.
