  • 60,000 miles
We bought a 2015 Jeep Cherokee in 2016 and without being told of the issues with the transmissions issues. We have had our Jeep in the shop four times with transmissions issues of shifting hard and now going into neutral when in drive and the brakes going hard and the Jeep coming to a stop. The anit slide has now came on and the Jeep shakes. The updates came one day when I was getting onto the highway going 65 mph and the Jeep went to 30 mph with my grandkids in the car and two disels one behind me blowing the horn because he almost hit me and one to the side of me. My husband was coming home from a dr visit again the Jeep went into a neutral state while in the drive position and the Jeep stopped and he was almost hit then the Jeep jerked and went into gear so he went into a shopping center and had to stop and kill the Jeep and restart the Jeep to make the Jeep restart just to get it home. It went back to the shop that night! we have had the Jeep in the shop for hard shifting when taking off and now it is hard shifting when taking off and down shifting, anti slide randomly comes on, brakes are not properly stopping the car. Go to the dealer where we bought it and they only offered $7500 for it when we owe $15, 000 and this is so ridiculous. Called Jeep and awaiting a call, they stated they have to call the dealer. In the mean time I had to buy another car because ours is to unsafe to drive! the Jeep is sticking in gear and the tac meter is staying on 3 or 4. then when you turn the Jeep off and turn it back on it may or may not work. We have backed it out of our driveway and put into drive and it shifts so hard into first and second gear. Now since the last time we picked it up from the shop the Jeep has now started loosing power when you attempt to drive. We have parked the Jeep and decided it isn't safe!

Was driving down the interstate at 70mph the engine abruptly shut off. The dashboard read "shift to P then desired gear". this has also happened when coming to a stop. Attempting to restart the engine causes the starter to run for about 45 seconds and then the engine will slowly sputter to life. This vehicle is unsafe and there are a massive amount of complaints about this spanning back over 4 years.

Car has been stutter starting. Once it finally starts I get an error code that says service park breaks service transmission. Then when putting Jeep into gear the transmission will shift hard and you can feel the car jerk and hear a clunking sound. Once you stop and turn the car off and back on a couple of times the error messages will go away and Jeep will drive normally. Two days ago Jeep had been driving normal. I stopped to get gas. After filling my tank I returned to the car to start it and the car would not start after inserting and turning the key I would not get a click or nothing. I also had no lights, not on the dash or out side of the car. After trying to jump start the car unsuccessfully I ended up having the car towed home. Once home the battery was removed and taken to be tested. I was told the battery was bad so I replaced the battery and Jeep started up fine however after starting I received the error message service park break and Jeep again would shift really hard. Error message went away Jeep started ro drive fine. Drove to the doctor and when I pulled into parking space Jeep got stuck in neutral. Finally got the Jeep to go into gear and went to drive back home and Jeep would not shift right and again jumped into neutral where it got stuck. Finally got home and parked Jeep waiting to get it into the dealer now. Jeep has 95000 miles on it.

Brakes are contantly being changed. The car shakes when braking at all times. Battery always needs charged. The car will turn off unexpectedly due to battery. It has stopped at stop lights and it has stopped on I70 going towards hagerstown, md and several city streets. It has been changed and still needs charging. Cruise control does not go to speed desired and will not slow down when decreasing the speed. Shifting gears switches to neutral unexpectedly. Car also lunges while in drive as if gears have been changed. This will happen on all roads regardless of the speed.

I have a 2015 Jeep Cherokee limited 4X4, when I try to slow down or stop the vehicle will speed up. It is like you are giving it gas instead of applying the break. It was purchased with around 13500 miles on the odometer on 9-22-2018, it now has 21360 miles as of 11-27-2018. The transmission completely stopped working on the highway in traffic. The transmission would not make the vehicle move and acted as if it was not in any gear. It has seamed to have issues from the time I purchased it and I was told by a Jeep dealership that it was just the normal way that the 9 speed transmission worked. If this is normal for a transmission to fail at 21000 miles I feel that is a major concern and a huge issue.

When trying to start vehicle the dash electronics flash transmission maintenance required, brake maintenance required. The steering wheel gets hard to turn. When you put your foot on the brake to turn over the engine the car stutters as if there is no battery power. It turns over once, starts, then shuts off. The car will start once then you will need to step on the gas while still in park for the car to stay on. Cause unknown.

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact noticed that the brake pedal was very stiff and would not depress when the push start button was depressed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer (lambert Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram, 5 river road, claremont, nh 03743) where it was diagnosed that there was brake fluid leakage. The contact stated that the failure began approximately six months ago. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,627.

Transmission has failed 3 times in the last 2 months. Once it finally enabled me to put it in drive it would not shift gears right. The highest it would go is 3rd out of 9. it jerks forward on all gear changes. The service transmission warning keeps flashing. Prior to this the auto start /stop feature failed to function. The local Jeep dealer has tried to repair this 3 times for us. We are the 2nd owner. The first owner had the same issues. The original owner had the transmission replaced. We were never told of the lemon "buy back" when we bought the car.

I was driving about 45 mph just after leaving my driveway and a deer jumped in front of the car. When I move my foot from the gas peddle to the brake peddle in a hurry during engine warm up the power brakes do not work. I can not stop the car. I can not engage the ABS or slide the tires. I push the brake peddle as hard as I can and there is no power brakes. I had the dealer service look at it 3 or 4 times and they even tried some other new cars that are the same make and model and said that they have the same problem. And that this problem is not repairable because all the Jeep Cherokee are the same way, only some have the problem worse. This problem is only apparent during engine warm up. It seems to be a lack of vacuum to the power brake module when you move your foot from the gas to the brake, in a split second, during an emergency stop. My car is still not correct and dealer says that all Jeep Cherokee are not correct. Please help us Jeep Cherokee owners before we kill someone. Thank you,

While braking the car abruptly downshifts and causes the vehicle to accelerate. I have noticed the longer I drive the vehicle, it will happen while I am slowing down at higher speeds at well. Also, a slow response to acceleration at times. I have taken the Jeep to the dealership and they have flashed and updated my transmission but they said it was fixed but it was not. It is incredibly dangerous to drive this car especially when trying to brake because it will speed up by itself and merging into hwy or fast moving traffic.

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle began to violently shake. The dealer diagnosed that the brakes and rotors failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. In addition, on another occasion, the vehicle failed to shift properly and shifted roughly without warning. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. After coming to a stop, the vehicle independently shut off. The contact mentioned that the push to start failed to restart the vehicle and the instrument panel illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that the fuel saving feature was enabled and the push to start feature needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16V529000 (power train); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 400.

I previously filed a complaint in December, 2015 regarding the automatic braking system applying the brakes for no reason. In January, 2016, the dealership replaced the braking system; however, the car has braked automatically on two separate occasions since they were replaced. Third time April 1st, 2016 while backing into my driveway, no vehicles or objects around. Took into dealership, dealership stated no problem found and that was normal braking (this is not normal braking). Fourth time on August 29th, 2016, again, while backing into driveway with no vehicle or objects around. Taking the vehicle back into the dealership on 8/30/16, this is the 4th visit to the dealership for this issue.
