Turning at a stop light on a busy road, an alert came up onto my dash that read to shift, car must be in park, however nothing touched my shifter. My car then shut down completely, no time to pull over or get off the road. The power was still on but the engine had shut off. I braked to re start and it sputtered, battery light came on and so did engine light. Tried starting again and after a few sputters, car came on and I was able to get off of busy road. Car has done this 3 times total now, every time the same. Nothing seems wrong while driving, no error alerts or anything.

Jeep Cherokee 2016 "service shifter" light comes on. I've seen a lot of people already post about their Cherokee saying the same thing as well. Called a mechanic shop they never heard of it and recommended me calling the dealer. So I recently took it in to have it serviced. We'll see what happens. It comes on when I start the car or sometimes it comes on while in motion.

The service shifter message displays on the screen and you can't tell if the the is in dprn becuase all the lights are red. The car sometimes will not shift out of gear. Or jerks when it finally does. This care hesitates while in motion and as well as when stationary and trying to move. This is very dangerous. I have taken this vehicle to the dealer who stated that the recall they had was only for a software update with the shifter but this issue should also be a recall with them covering the repairs. I have less than 50K miles there is no reason why I should have to cover the expense of replacing the shifter assembly becuase the shifter is not covered under the warranty they sell you.

While driving at regular speed my car has stopped running. I was able to maneuver to the side & wait several minutes before it restarted. My heat has stopped working - I took it to be looked at & was told the "harness" is corroded. My car has $43K miles - how can this be already?

The vehicle is burning oil between changes, it shuts off in the middle of driving on a road because it has no oil. No warning messages or lights pop up. I have almost been hit by other cars twice (with a child in the backseat) because the car shuts down and there is no oil in the car. My screen says I have over 50% remaining until the next oil change! I was driving down the road, and the vehicle shut off and I was almost hit by other cars!

Service shifter came on in my Jeep and would not drive/shift going down the interstate in a lot of traffic. My family could have been killed! cars were swerving around me, blowing their horns, and I couldn't even step on the gas to try to get off the road on to the shoulder. About 30 minutes before that happened my 16 year old daughter was driving. This needs to be addressed immediately before someone gets killed!!!

Our 2016 Jeep Cherokee (latitude 4WD) has been stalling after a cold start. The battery indicator flashes and then registers a message to place the car in P to shift into gear. I have been able to restart the car after waiting 30-60 sec, sometimes while in traffic. The vehicle was at the dealership on 1/14/19 and I was told that there wasn't any oil on the dipstick. The engine is possibly burning oil but there are no indicators or status updates when the system is checked. I was told by the dealership that they are aware of an engine issue with the 2016 Jeep Cherokee. An oil consumption test is needed before the engine can be replaced (if needed). Oil consumption test initiated 1/14/19. Chrysler/Jeep is aware of this issue and has not issued a safety recall. Negligence by Chrysler for not responding to this significant defect and safety issue.

About a month ago, my 2016 Jeep started to stall as I was driving the vehicle. The steering wheel locks and the battery sign flashes, then the car tells me to place the car in park. I shut the car off, wait about two minutes then restart the car. Sometimes I will make it to my destination, sometimes it stalls on me again. It's happened too many times, and I scared to drive the car anymore. It has been in a shop for three weeks now, and there is nothing that they can find wrong with the vehicle. They hook it up to a machine, but no error messages are reported to them.

I have a 2016 Jeep Cherokee limited. When I am driving the vehicle and slow down such as to make a turn or stop at a redlight, the engine dies out. This has happened multiple times. I had a diagnostic test done on it, and the test indicated the throttle body needed cleaning or the air filter was dirty. I had the throttle body cleaned and the air filter replaced with a new one. The vehicle is still doing the same thing. The is a big safety concern in that the vehicle has stalled while I was in an intersection making a turn. I am concerned that I will get hit by on coming traffic, if this continues to happen. I do not have another vehicle to drive nor is public transportation available. Jeep needs to look into this safety issue before someone is seriously injured or killed.

I purchased a 2016 Jeep Cherokee and since day one the start/stop feature never have worked properly and it wasn't until recently that, I was told by my current dealer that, it is the backup battery and that Jeep have had problems with the manufacturer and supposedly Jeep is looking for another manufacturer but, I feel Jeep always knew this and did not inform the dealers and consumers. This is been happening for 2 years now and the Jeep representative have said to me that, she have some people on her list and I am not one of them and at the time of this report/complain, I haven't received any information, update either from the dealer or Jeep. If other consumers Jeep owners are having the same problem then; why Jeep fail to report the situation as a "recall"? the start/stop and backup battery is not a critical problem that might stop the car from functioning but, if I decide to sell or give the car on trade-in people are going to ask me about it and I'm afraid I might lose money/value because of the feature not working.

At 61,000 miles my Jeep started having a strong fuel smell in the cabin after coming to a stop with the auto-start dis-engaged. Reading online, many people on the forums have similar issues with Cherokee since the early 2000's with no known malfunction to fix. The exhaust smell has caused headaches in the last week.

I have a 2016 Jeep Cherokee bought brand new from the dealer. At approximately 15K miles, I started hearing a clicking sound when driving from driver to reverse. I went to the dealer multiple times and was told they could not figure out what was wrong with it. Finally the dealer figured out that the rear differential needed to be replaced at only 15K miles. At approximately 25K miles, I was hearing a whistling sound on the driver side front end when cruising at aprox. 20mhp or less. I took it to the dealer mult. Times and they could not figure out what was wrong with it. The dealer replaced a rear axel boot for the shaft that was throwing grease, thinking that would solve the problem but it did not. I heard the whistling once again before even leaving the lot. The dealer finally figured out the driver side front end bearing was bad and would need to be replaced. The dealer replaced the shaft axle. I have had approx 4 transmission software updates done since I have had the vehicle. The dealer states this would need to be purchased for approx $140 each time after the power train warranty expires for the Jeep. Keep in mind my Jeep has only 33K miles on it was this point. Now I have a Jeep that has a panoramic sunroof that makes noise as well when going over bumps and potholes and the dealer states they do not hear anything. I have a tire alignment done on the Jeep at 25K miles for $120. I went back to the dealer with 32K miles on it to have the sunroof checked out and they are telling me I need another alignment. So the alignment has gone out again in less than 10K miles? there has been nothing but issues with this Jeep since day one and every other Jeep I have owned in the past.
