My Jeep randomly shuts off while driving. This has happened to me 6 times in the two years since I purchased the vehicle brand new. Last happened around 3 weeks ago as indicated below. Very dangerous. Can not control when this happens. Dealer told me it was because I was past due for an oil change, and the engine shutting off was to protect the engine. If you do a search online, you'll see many other Jeep owners are experiencing the same issue. Please help before someone gets killed. Sometimes nothing gets done until someone gets seriously hurt. Unfortunately, the fear of a lawsuit after someone gets seriously hurt is what has to happen before any action is taken by manufacturers. Please help all of us avoid that.

Stalling issue. Stalls during a hard turn or stop.dealer keeps telling me its due to trans recall. It is not it is due to low oil pressure, safety shut off. My vehicle has done this since new. Now over 40,000 miles and continues to be a death trap waiting to happen.

On June 15, 2020, I turned left onto a city street and my vehicle began making the warning sound, the same sound when the seatbelt isn't buckled. A few seconds later when I turned right into another city street, the battery level warning came on, then the entire dash lit up and the vehicle quit. After a few attempts to restart, the engine came back on. The next day after I made a left turn, the same thing occurred, the battery level flashed on the dash, then the entire dash lit up and the engine shut down. I wasn't able to steer the vehicle to the shoulder of the road. It took 5 attempts before the engine would restart. On the June 18th soon after I pulled out of my driveway onto a city street, the same event occurred, the dash lit up and the engine stopped, however this time I wasn't making a turn, but I had slowed down because another vehicle coming in the opposite direction had veered close to my side of the road.it took several attempts to restart the engine, and it soon cut off again before I got it back in the driveway. When this occurred, there is no way to guide the vehicle to the side. I was very fortunate that I wasn't hit. Now I am too scared to drive my vehicle.

From the that I drove it out of the dealership I noticed that applying the gas did not get me the instant needed power to get this 6-cylinder car moving. In November this car with less that 300 miles was back at the dealership when it also developed a surge in power and a fluctuating engine revving... it spent a month at the dealership before they could determine what the problem was. That problem may have been solved but the acceleration is still a concern of ours which we need to live with for another 2-years which is the remainder of our lease.

Cars stalls out without warning when slowing. The last time it was when I was making a turn, all other times were when I was slowing approaching a stop sign. When restarting it takes a few seconds to turn over it doesn't start right up.

5 out of the last 6 times when I am leaving the house, the engine shuts off when I make a left hand turn. When I restart the engine sounds like the battery is dead. It takes a few seconds, but then the engine finally restarts. I only have had this problem in the morning.

My 16 month old Jeep turns off while you are driving it. This has occurred twice in the prior two weeks. No warning lights--the car just turns off completely. I have been advised this is due to a drop in oil pressure, but the oil pressure light doesn't come on. The car has been maintained according to the guidelines within the manual which states to change the oil when the engine light comes on and that it should never go beyond 10,000 miles between oil changes. When the car was taken to the dealer for the issue we were advised that the reality is that the oil needs changed every 4,000 miles and this is a known issue and that more frequent oil changes reduces the likelihood of this occurring. My 16 year old son was driving the car the first time this occurred and the second time it was on a 45 mile an hour road. This is a known issue and yet Chrysler/Jeep does nothing to resolve it.

My car has turned off on me several times since I bought it. It slowly starts and shuts off when I make a turn. It has shut off on me up to 4 times in less than a mile, while I have my child in the car. Also in a busy intersection. I have taken it back to dealer several times and they say it is due to low oil and they add it and send me on my way. Every time I don't get an oil change right away, my car will stall in the middle of the road at random times with no warning. I have been with my two young children in the car when this has happened several times, it's extremely unsafe and I am so tired of this issue. I've spoke with the dealership and they said all Jeep Cherokee's are like this, as if it is normal. We are lucky we haven't gotten into a crash due to this. This is just ridiculous and I'm looking into doing a buy back for this car. Can't trust Jeep now.

Excessive engine oil consumption. No leaks but have to add engine oil every 1,000 - 2,000 miles. The car is brand new less than 10,000 miles on it. It should not be using engine oil. Have had cars before that never used oil. This car shouldn't be going through this much oil this fast. I had to top off the engine oil twice and it's got less than 2,500 miles on it.

There were several incidents of the following happen: Car starts fine, I drive for a few minutes and the car just shuts off and just stops all of a sudden. So I wait and try turning it back on. Thank goodness it wasn't on a highway. Sometime it re-starts the 1st time but sometimes it takes a few tries. First time this started happening (Nov. 2019), the dealer said it needed oil change but it was only at around 40% oil life. They told me it was "bone dry." It was fine after oil change. Now (Feb 2020) dashboard still has the oil life as 48% and it's only been 4000 miles or so since last oil change. Dealer will probably tell me again that it needs an oil change but it's very strange a new car (2019 Jeep Cherokee model) will burn through its oil in just 4000 miles. It's very concerning the car just shuts off/turns off all of a sudden without any warning. And if it does burn through its synthetic engine oil in just 4000 miles it seems there is something really wrong. Also, I don't know if this correlates with the problem but when I make a turn I hear a "bing" sound which makes me look at the dashboard to see if a light came on but there is nothing there. This happened when the problem started happening and I'm hearing it again this time around. I had this problem happen to me 6-7 times (sometimes 2 times in 1 day) in the last 4 days. The problem started last week, while making a right hand turn my Jeep suddenly lost all electrical power including the power steering. After I put my car in park and waited a few minutes it started back up without further incidents. The first incident happened on a snow day on my morning commute to work, had I taken a busier route it would have caused an accident. The same thing repeated the following day minus the snowy conditions. I schedule my car for service where I bought it as soon as I was able to take it. When I arrived to the dealer I spoke to a service adviser and explained what had transpired. He quickly recognized the problem, and asked a very specific question. He asked if the car died out while making a right hand turn which was the case both incidents. He went on to say that it happened to that model and engine if they oil gets low. I was astounded as I was not due for an oil change for around 1,000 miles. Clearly Jeep is aware of the issue which seems to be obvious design flaw. I understand how recalls work and I am left to assume that they have decided against it as an oil change can be a temporary fix and a engine replacement would be costly and time consuming.

The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.

I was driving home from work one night and all the dash lights come on and the vehicle completely stalled in the middle of the highway. I had to attempt to pull over and switch the key off and back on to restart the engine. I also have been at a stop multiple times and turn out into the road and my vehicle won't go, which could result in me getting hit. I also had my recall 'fixed' for the power train, went back because I received another letter saying it was possibly not fixed and it still tells me the problem was not fixed on my vehicle. I cannot use cruise control on my vehicle because when it goes down the slightest hill, curve, whatever, the rpms go all the way up and just sit there, even when I have turned off the cruise control and braked it still stays shifted up for a long time. I regret purchasing this vehicle, especially with a baby on the way any day now and her safety being at risk. We are in the process of finding another vehicle.

I was waiting at a red stop light in my 2019 Jeep Cherokee 4X4, 2.0 L turbo, when all of a sudden my battery light on the dash illuminated. I looked at my push button start switch and it said "run". the light turned green and I stepped on the gas and nothing happened. The car was dead. Cars behind me start honking their horn. I put on my hazards and put my arms up in the air. I then moved the gear selector to "N" and pushed the start switch. The switch toggles from "run" to "off". so, I hit the button again and the car starts. I move the transmission into "D", but the car just revs like it is still in neutral. I move selector to park and then back to "D". then the car then allows me to take off. However, I was stuck in traffic for a whole light cycle and had many people wondering what I was doing. I have no idea why the car stopped working. My car has about 13,500 miles on it.
