  • 67,000 miles
While driving about 10 mph in my neighborhood, the engine abruptly cut off. The "D" on my dash began to flash. Steering was difficult and braking was difficult. The car just coasted. I was able to pull the car over to the side of the road and put it in park. Then I was able to restart the car. If I had been on a highway or a busy street, this would easily have been an accident. My 8 year old son was in the car. Now I'm scared to drive the car. I have called the dealer to have them take a look at the vehicle. Seems this is not just an issue for me. A lot of other 2018 Jeep have had this issue. A car that randomly shuts off while it's being driven is a horrific accident waiting to happen. Hopefully something can be done at the dealership. Another issue with the car that may be related or separate. The radio in my center consol turns on when I start the car. Then it freezes and shuts off. Then it turns itself back on and freezes and shuts off again. It goes through this process several time before it will turn on, stay on, and function properly. I am told that it could be that the car needs an update. I am also told by the dealer that the update could result in the car needing an entirely new radio.

After wide open throttle acceleration, vehicle continues to accelerate even after letting off of throttle. Had to immediately depress brake to its maximum capacity to slow/stall the unintended rapid acceleration. It has duplicated this behavior twice in the last 100 miles. The Jeep also indicates an error message regarding electronic throttle control error. Once again uncontrolled rapid acceleration after wot!

Infotainment system keeps rebooting, goes into boot mode even while driving. Caused total distraction to the driver while driving with sudden full blast of air condition or volume going up and down without control. This is a full safety issue as at one point my daughter was driving and the speedometer went totally blank at night. All problems gradually started in October 2020. In the latest safety related issue the Jeep was no longer drivable as the infotainment system was draining the battery. The Jeep had to be jumped started multiple times during the day and got stranded on the side of the road.

Put my truck in park open my door walk in front of my truck to open my gate. Turn around only to see my truck leaping towards me. Luckily for me the truck ran into the gate before I slide the gate.. there is clearly a big problem and Chrysler don't want to assume responsibility.

I have a 2018 grand Jeep and since I took delivery in 2018 he uconnect feature has never worked right, and now is beyond useless/dangerous. I have been given the run arounds by the dealership, and doesn't want to cover 2018 vehicle in 2020 with very little use this whole year. The whole system is not safe with random changes with radio volume, temp changes, nav changing instructions in route, etc. It's beyond frustrating and I can't seem to get a straight or help. Online this has been an issue for year before my model was sold, and never addresses. This is fraud and straight negelence, and I wish I could give this vehicle back. Worse purchase ever!!

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the front dashboard panel developed a bubble. The bubble started at the top of the dashboard and traveled to the middle of the dashboard. The bubble caused certain features to switch on and off independently like the radio, the air condition, the navigation system, and the defroster. The contact was unable to see out of the windshield while driving and pulled over because the defroster was inoperable. The contact took the vehicle to love Chrysler Dodge Jeep llc (1259 E main St., alice, tx 78332, (361) 356-7928) and was informed by the dealer that the warranty had expired. Started out with having issues with the radio screen not coming on just the Jeep logo would show up. Then it progressed to the screen and radio would restart as I'm driving and occasionally would make a loud beeping noise out of nowhere. Went to start my car and all the lights across the dash would flash and change colors (from a blue to orange) and the car will not start. Now nothing works at all on the car and I can't get the car to start. Car is completely dead.

Here are times when I have pulled out (with various people in the car) most recently my 13 year-old-son, who was screaming, "dad what are you doing, we are about to be hit, " and the car has completely shut down. (no interior lights, or running engine) quick thinking saved us from a major disaster. We were almost T-boned last week because of this problem. This would not be the first time for this problem. Problem #3: while driving, I pulled out from my street, a red light or parking lot and the transmission did not engage, the engine revved (without moving) and again, I was almost T-boned. It happened again this morning. Problem #4: there are times when I am traveling up or downhill, the transmission will wind out, the tachometer will spike and then the Jeep makes a knocking noise and then I can continue. You could drive the car for months and then all of a sudden it happens. Problem #5: I was backing into my driveway, the back up camera stopped working and my Jeep completely shut down. This happens on more than one occasion and has no precursor to when it is going to happen.

Not a safety issue, but a extremely frustrating and widespread issue. Fm radio signal issues. Fm radio cuts in and out. I found a forum with dozens of other owners who had the same issue. Radio works fine for xm/sirius and am. Seeking through fm stations, the radio doesn't find any signals strong enough to stop on. I'm in an area with strong fm stations and have never had issues on other radios in any of my vehicles.

The main Jeep battery had a thermal runaway and melted to the point it started a fire. The battery is located under the passenger seat and melted the battery cover, seat cover, carpet, seat trim.both battery cables Jeep would not cover this under their warranty. 2018 Jeep warranty statement from the date of purchase, a Jeep basic limited warranty (or Jeep bumper-to-bumper warranty) covers the cost of repairs throughout most of your vehicle. It also covers the cost of parts and labor due to defective materials, workmanship, or factory preparation. A basic warranty also covers Jeep roadside assistance for towing to a dealership during the first three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first.
