For my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee: the UConnect touchscreen which controls everything from the parking assist functions to navigation to climate is delaminating. As a result of the delaminating screen, the screen will malfunction while driving the vehicle causing it 1) become permanently "stuck" on the rear back up camera/parking assist mode or 2) override driver selections and prompt the driver to select/deselect other functions unrelated to driving causing dangerous distractions and impacting our ability to use the car and system safely.

The infotainment screen started acting crazy and makes it difficult or impossible to operate the vehicle when misbehaving. The screen will lock up and not respond to any touch control. Powering the vehicle off and on at a traffic light does not fix the issue. Of course, this means I cannot operate the HVAC, navigation nor any other controls requiring the touch screen. The system will also switch on its own into different modes and selections... radio, seat and steering wheel heaters, volume, etc. The problem is frequent and persistent. The screen has also delaminated and is becoming harder to see/read. The malfunctioning of the screen is a big driver distraction taking away from attention on driving. Not being able to turn off or on the seat warmers nor the HVAC when malfunctioning causes discomfort and distraction. I have reached out to Jeep customer care but have not made contact with them yet.

Car radio gets stuck on screen that says "do you want to adjust the clock". You cannot get into any of the apps that change the braking system or change the heat settings (like defrost) It just jumps back to do you want to adjust the clock. Sometimes the screen just goes off completely. Looks like the screen is delaminating. You can see the bubble underneath.

This concerns the malfunction of 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Uconnect 4C NAV with 8.4-Inch Display UAV Radio. The dealer removed the radio and inspected the problem. The touch screen bubbled/delaminated and the adhesive must of warmed up from the radio use and dripped down to the bottom of the radio affecting other components. The radio will change stations on it's own, navigation won't work. If i have my cell phone on it will make random calls and it will activate the SOS call. That happened 3 times and 2 times i was driving on the highway. That did take my attention away from driving. Now i have to make sure my phone is off when driving. I didn't renew my Uconnect subscription so i didn't get in trouble for that. My chrysler factory warranty denied a replacement. They told me the dealer said something about it was an outside influence (a sticky liquid inside) caused the radio problem that made the radio act that way so it's not covered. Giving you an approximate date is hard to do. It happens a lot. The date i put is when it started to really act

The Uconnect system has been delaminating for a while now. As such, there is "ghost pressing" of buttons on the screen. This, while driving, renders many important components of the vehicle unusable. There is a loud ding, then the reverse cameras go out if using them. Navigation ceases to work. Heating, cooling are also affected. I had not given much thought to how bad of a safety hazard this was until it started up on a 3 hour drive. The distractions of having most electric components go haywire while on the road is quite incredible. This is a well known issue so I am dumbfounded that it has not been recalled. I have had 3 quotes on the vehicle and all say that the unit needs to be replaced. Uconnect will not assist and Jeep wants full price for a fix. As such, I have drove my vehicle 1-2K in 15+ months as it is completely unsafe.

The infotainment system screen keeps changing and asking if I want to reset the clock. It also turns on the heated seat and steering wheel heat and blower motor requiring constant attention to the screen to try to turn things off and causing constant distraction from driving.

Infotainment screen has slowly been delaminating. Today, the screen began receiving phantom commands. I do not touch the screen, but the screen acts as though I am constantly touching it in random places. The radio, defrost, maps, backup camera, etc. turn on and off. It has made my car unsafe to drive because I can't keep my windshield defrosted, I can't use the navigation feature, I can't properly use the rear camera in reverse, and there is persistent beeping from the screen mistakenly sensing that I am touching it.

The UConnect screen is delaminating which is causing the touchscreen to malfunction. This is causing the navigation system, radio, seating controls, and climate control to be inoperable for spans of time. I have already had several occasions where this has caused unsafe driving conditions.

While car is driving, the infotainment system which controls heating/air conditioning, NAV, radio, etc. will start to flash, make noises on its own, play the radio and the stations switch on their own. It is extremely dangerous and distracting while trying to drive the car. The only way to stop is to turn it off but then you have no access to a navigation system which presents its own dangers. Without proper heating in the winter months or cooling in the summer months, the car can be dangerously cold or dangerously heated, especially dangerous when driving around young children or my elderly parents. When I contacted the dealer about it, they reported they have heard of this happening, that there is no recall despite the inherent dangers and that it would cost over one thousand to repair. It has not been inspected by any manufacturer, police, insurance rep or others as it has only been occuring for a couple months and I was hoping if I reset the system, it would stop. There have been no warning signals that this is occuring. When I decided to do an internet search, I found that thousands of 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokees are having this issue, that it's been widely reported to NHTSA and that Jeep has not issued a recall, despite the dangerous driving of a vehicle such as this.

there's is a problem with the Touch Screen where a message keeps popping up and after a period of time this causes the Touch Screen to be unusable (can't use Navigation, Radio, Hands Free Calling etc.). after doing research online it appears this is a known problem and is the result of a flaw in the Manufacturer's (LG) process (delamination of adhesive between Screen and Digitial Touch Component). As a side note, I mentioned this when I brought my Jeep into the Dealership for service and they confirmed they were aware of it (their solution is to charge me $2,145 to replace the Radio...the Radio isn't the problem, it's the Touch Screen that has the issue).

The control screen of my jeep is 'delaminating'. This is apparently quite a known issue to the manufacturer, however they wont do anything to address it. When the screen starts reacting to phantom touches, not only can I not control anything in the car, it is very distracting to the driver to put it mildly. I have also read that as the glue melts, it leaks onto the wiring of all the components under the screen including the AC, all the parking sensor and traction control off controls.

The 8.4 touch screen is delaminating causing the whole screen area to randomly turn things on and off on its own. Changing certain settings while driving. Safety settings are being affected as well as the touch screen controls almost everything. The defective touch screen is causing a distraction while driving. Contacted jeep they are aware of the issues but no one wants to take responsibility to fix it.

Touch screen is delaminating and has ghost touch causing random unintentional functions to be selected and others to be obscured. Heated seats come on and won't turn off. Phone calls are made on their own. Repeated screen messages from ghost touch selections obstruct use of screen for intended purposes which include most vehicle controls. It presents a serious driving distraction. I consider this a safety issue. It is a known defective part for which Jeep has a replacement but won't offer the replacement at no cost out of warranty. Cost is approximately $1,000.

The contact owned a 2018 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while at a complete stop at the traffic light, with the START/STOP mode engaged, the vehicle accelerated unintendedly and crashed into the rear of another vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The air bags deployed. The contact stated that the forward collision automatic braking system failed to engage. The contact sustained back pain. The contact also sustained trauma and had been seeking assistance from a therapist. The occupant of the other vehicle did not sustain injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot where it was totaled. The contacted related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V426000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 34,000.

Top right corner of touch screen started delaminating about a year ago. But nothing happened, it was just cosmetic. Until now, it causes the screen to change on its own. It will call people, change the radio station, flicker the map and end the directions, turn on my seat heaters. It is very distracting while driving which is dangerous and puts my safety at risk. This is a very known and common issue by Jeep, but out of warranty they just charge you $1000+ to replace it.

I own a jeep grand Cherokee summit (2018), and the central control unit is delaminating, which in turn causes touch screen sensitivity issues. The trouble is that this unit is the central nervous system of the car. It controls hvac, camera, radio, car settings, etc-€¦ and having a car pressing its own buttons and self-changing car settings while driving is a MAJOR safety concern. Jeep has been unhelpful for myself and for vehicle owners of Jeep, Ram, etc-€¦ cars which all suffer from the same manufacturer defect. The manufacturer admittedly says the units are universally a problem, and have goodwill fixed some for people out of warranty, but refuses to help most people -€" thereby forcing the consumer to spend ~$1500 installing a new computer. Please help.

Uconnect infotainment screen is delaminating causing the unit to select random buttons on its own. on a cool morning I was driving to work when the screen started randomly changing the climate controls blasting full heat directly on my windshield causing it to fog up and impaired my visibility. The unit then started calling 911, turning radio channels on and adjusting the volume. This was extremely distracting and I had no control over the functions of my vehicle. Uconnect is aware of this very common issue and refuses to offer a solution. No warning, only visible defect of the delamination was present prior to the unit randomly changing functions on its own.

Touch Screen De-laminiation. Entertainment system started having ghost clicks without being touched while driving at highway speeds. Started making phone calls, changing radio stations, turning HVAC on and off, depending on which screen I was on. Could not turn off screen because the phantom touches would just turn it back on again.
