The screen in my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee is bubbling up. It seems that the screen is delaminating. Because of the delamination, the screen thinks that I am touching it. My radio station will change, the clock settings keep coming up and disappearing, and the top portion of the screen where it has delaminated does not work at all. When I touch the screen, it does not work. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. I am concerned that the electrical will fail and cause my car to lock up. My safety is put as risk with the chance that the screen fails and causes an electrical issue. This also puts everyone else at danger if the car malfunctions and I lose control on the roadway. I called the dealership and they stated that this is a known problem in the model and year of my Jeep. There was no warning that this problem was going to occur.

The screens on the 2018 and later Jeep Grand Cherokees are delaminating and changing settings in the vehicle automatically. This cause issues on setting controlled by the screen, and leads to distraction on the road. There are numerous reports of this incident occurring (simple google it), and should have been a part recall by the NHTSA or Jeep.

The main LCD screen for the car that controls, climate, radio, Bluetooth, navigation etc. has started delaminating. The delaminating has caused the screen to behave as though possessed. Car will make calls from contacts and drop calls, make SOS calls to 911, change radio stations, change climate settings, turn on seat heaters, randomly usurp the navigation system when being used to name just a few behaviors. I have observed most systems controlled from the screen to be victim of this delaminating. It is incredibly dangerous when the screen acts up while driving, distracting the driver while moving. Many of the actions require immediate attention which distract driver from the road. It started several months ago only occasionally but has recently advanced where the disruptions are constant. The dealers and manufacturer are well aware of the issue but the cost to repair is upwards of $2000 which is a barrier for many vehicle owners. The problem started after noticing a small bubbles in the screen and has progressively gotten worse.

The vehicle's UConnect screen has delaminated. The result is a "ghost finger" touching the screen in random places every few seconds. This causes: The heat and fan to crank up to maximum; the heated seats to come on high; or Bluetooth to drop off; radio to switch between functions; navigation system will begin tracking in random directions. This is extremely distracting while driving and requires my attention to remedy which is a significant safety concern. Safety issue is averrable for inspection. Dealer has visually inspected the issue and verbally confirmed the delimitation is the case of the issue. no one else has inspected the issue. This issue began a year ago, around 30k miles, and has continued to get worse. Vehicle is at 37k miles now.

8.4 infotainment display delaminated across the top third of the screen, rendering the screen unusable while the vehicle was at highway speed. Repeated uncommanded prompts to reset the clock created a significant driver distraction, placing the occupants of the vehicle at risk. This problem has been widely reported by thousands of Jeep owners and owners of other Stellantis vehicles.

For the last month of more, the infosystem would asked "Do you want to adjust your clock setting?". If you say no takes you back to the same screen if you say yes it let you update it but then goes back to the same screen and keeps on blinking and making sounds (causing an audible driving hazard). It would go away only to come back the next time you drive. Now today it is changing stations would out me touching the screen and now when i turn on the radio the volume is set to max (almost caused an accident this morning when it cranked to max while driving). Checked it it appears my uconnect system is up to date so not sure what else i could do. Dealer will look it at for $150 bucks!!!

While driving the radio system began having glitches where it would say it was calling or texting on its own. We would reset the radio and it would seem to correct itself and start working again. A few weeks later the issue became worse. The electronic system really began to malfunction. The car would call SOS several times in a row, typically they would not go through and would eventually end, a few times they did make it through and we had to have the operator end the call, the radio nor the button on the rear view mirror would allow us to end the call. The radio would transfer stations on its own, it would start calling and texting on its own, the seat heaters started turning on and off on their own and the rear view camera started to flash onto the screen all on its own as well. Essentially the electronic system within the vehicle went absolutely crazy on its own and did not respond to any of our efforts to stop it. It was very distracting and extremely unsafe, as we were driving down the interstate in a construction zone that has numerous vehicle accidents each week. Did I mention that I had my wife and 18 month old twins in the vehicle when it happened"!" So we took it to the dealership, just outside of our extended warranty now, to have a dealer giggle and simply tell us its a KNOWN issue, but it would be $165 dollars to diagnose. After running the diagnostic we were informed the vehicle needed a software update, but were still charged the $165. The software update did not fix the issue, the radio is still possessed, and we were quoted as parts costing 1500 dollars and labor taking it up to over 2000. The vehicle has just over 85,000 miles. I'm hoping customer care will help fix this issue, given the shear numbers of reports. Do have video of incident as well.

I have a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit. I am the original owner and I am having issues with my screen backup screen bubbling. Also, it changes the heat all the way up or down and keeps moving, it changes the radio station, it makes calls on my phone without me dialing. Very distracting while driving. So I just shut it off and then when I make a call on my cell it comes back on and starts it all over again. Kinda like the car is possessed. I did contact Chrysler Care line at 1-800-992-1997. They asked me for my VIN number and had me verify my address. They did open a case number for me and I am supposed to take to a dealer and get it evaluated and then call them back. I did notice online a lot of other people having the same issue.

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the infotainment screen had started to delaminate. Due to the failure, various infotainment screen features would perform random functions independently while the vehicle was in operation. The contact stated that the defect was distracting while driving. The manufacturer of the infotainment screen was notified of the failure and informed him that the cost of the repair would only be covered for original vehicle owner. The contact stated that he was not the original owner of the vehicle; therefore, he did not qualify for the repair. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.

UConnect stereo face is delaminating which started about 20 months ago ( when Covid caused labor shortages and very long waits to get to a dealer) and is getting worse. This is causing the stereo to change stations, make outgoing phone calls, hanging up on calls, disconnecting the phone, powering itself on and off, loss of Navigation, not to mention the loss of heated seats and steering wheel. I tried calling FCA and the woman (Wendy) was just not wanting to hear anything other than to tell me to take it to a dealer. RUDE !! She refused to transfer me to her supervisor... This is a VERY WELL KNOWN ISSUE with this stereo. My wife is the driver of this vehicle and I do not want her in an unsafe condition. Of course a Dealer wants the vehicle for an entire day instead of taking 15 seconds to walk out and look at the display and verify that it is in fact the KNOWN ISSUE and then order the stereo and make yet another appointment maybe months later with the parts shortages everywhere, leaving my wife to continue driving the vehicle in the unsafe condition. PLEASE issue a RECALL for this KNOWN problem... Thank You.

U-Connect 8.4 screen has delaminted causing functions such as navigation, radio, back up, telephone to constantly change while driving. The screen keeps changing while driving which is a risk during driving since we need such apps as navigation to drive. This causes us to constantly take our eyes off the road and fix the screen. This happen as often as 40 times per minute. Extremely dangerous and distracting. My Jeep is a 2018 an the delamination started at about 35,000 with no issues other than delamination. At about 42,000 mile the delamination is more severe and very dangerous and distracting to the driver. Now my vehicle has 42,800 miles and I cannot drive it fearing an accident. I called the dealer they said it is out of warranty. This is a common problem I have researched with Jeep U connect 8.4 screens for 2017 & 2018 model years I have a video of this happening and it's scary. I am no longer driving my car until I can have it fixed
