The UConnect display on my vehicle is phantom pressing buttons, going to different screens, turning things on and off as I drive. Yesterday, I was put in a EXTREMELY unsafe situation with my vehicle where the UConnect screen turned off my blind spot detection. I was unaware until I attempted to merge into another lane and hit another car!!! I called UConnect and Jeep and they told me they won-€™t do anything because I-€™m not the first owner of the car and that it can-€™t be replaced but for 1,000 of dollars. I feel like this should be repaired by Courtesy because this is a safety issue.

The screen on the infotainment system starts starts clicking randomly by itself, causing a huge distraction while driving. It started three years into ownership of the vehicle, which I purchased brand new, when I noticed a bubble and occasionally would click random buttons by itself. The bubble is now bigger and the random clicks happen 100% of the time as soon as the car is turned on. It will randomly call people, or change my location while using the navigation, which I have to click the relocate button. This will go on forever until I turn off the screen, therefore I have to use my phone. There are plenty of complaints from other Jeep users with the same issue. The cause is the screen adhesive delaminates. This is a huge safety issue that needs to get fix asap. Unfortunately, Jeep charges a lot of money to replace a defective unit.

Screen first started delaminating after 2 years / 18000 miles, but remained functioning so didn't act at the time. This week (3.5 years / 31000 m) while on a roadtrip the touch screen started randomly 'pushing' options on the screen. It started heating the seats, dialled 911 and started changing the navigation, all while I was on the highway with no way to exit. Had to make an emergency stop alongside the highway where it was not safe to stop but could not disable the screen or stop it from dialing random phone numbers. Had to break off my vacation and turn back home. Car is now in the shop (Jeep Kearny Mesa San Diego) for diagnosis. Service specialist tells me it could be a 3000 dollar repair out of pocket. I bought this car new at this dealership, but if this is not covered I'll not buy FCA again.

The radio/phone/climate control display is de-laminating, and I'm starting to get "ghost" presses which can accidentally make phone calls, adjust the climate control, etc. This can cause distracted driving. This is being reported widely online and dealerships are aware of the issue. https://www.jeepgarage.org/threads/display-screen-starting-to-delaminate.224391/ https://www.jeepforum.com/threads/uconnect-delaminating.4439701/

My Jeep Grand Cherokee (2018) Unlimited has a screen delamination issue where underneath the LCD screen there's a liquid leaks out causing phantom touches on the screen resulting in various apps and settings get opened and changed. This seriously caused safety issues as the settings get changed and distract the driver. Random phone calls would be placed, map settings would change and redirect. I have researched on various Jeep forums and there are also multiple cases of Jeep owners who encounter similar issues. This is a safety concern and Jeep should issue a recall to fix the issue. I also believe this is an issue across multiple products from FCA. Here are the links to issues being reported by Jeep Owners: https://www.jeepgarage.org/threads/display-screen-starting-to-delaminate.224391/page-11#post-2021336035 https://www.jeepgarage.org/threads/radio-screen.236450/#post-2021335380 https://digitizerdepot.com/blogs/posts/delamination-and-bubbling-peeling-of-8-4-uconnect-touch-screen-is-a-major-problem-on-chrysler-dodge-jeep-and-ram-vehicles https://www.jeepforum.com/threads/uconnect-delaminating.4439701/ https://www.ramforum.com/threads/8-4-uconnect-touch-screen-delaminating.162663/ Thank you for your reading and understanding. This is frustrating as Jeep ignores such a widespread issues, especially this is a safety concern. Joe

While driving on highway climate control temperature kept switching, and would not allow me to put defroster on making visibility increasingly difficult. Also the vehicles screen will randomly display the backup camera while driving at high speeds. This is all due to a known lamination issue with this model jeep.

About a week ago my screen started pushing/clicking/changing screens by itself. The screen is going crazy, switching calls, randomly calling people, scrolling through contacts, pushing buttons all over the place, changing songs, turning seat warmers off and on. I took this to my dealership and they confirmed it was a defect in the radio and to replace it would cost me over $1,000. After more research it turns out there are many other people with this same problem for the 2018 model jeeps. This is a serious safety concern as you're trying to drive down the road and can't pay attention because all sorts of buttons are randomly being pushed and the screen is going crazy back and forth to other screens. I would hope that Jeep would correct this issue at their expense as it is a defect on their end and causing serious safety concerns to not just me but other drivers with the same issue.

The Uconnect system is malfunctioning. This seems to be a manufacturing defect, which is known to be quite common in Chrysler vehicles. The problem causes their navigation system to be inoperable, the system to dial 911 voluntarily, the back up camera to be inoperable at times, the climate control to be inoperable as well as various other issues which have become a safety hazard while operating the vehicle. The problem has been reported to the dealer as well as well as confirmed by the dealer.

The jeeps radio failed that controls safety features in the vehicle this was caused by a delaminating touch screen. The touch screen would select options on its own including safety and driving settings due to this defect. It is widely posted about in 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles with this display. Mopar customer support denied the claim to reimburse me for the radio because I was not the original owner. As the second owner, ive been put in a financial loss for a 1,000 dollar radio that controls all the safety features in the vehicle.

Uconnect screen with radio/nav/driver controls is delaminating, causing screens to change and overriding all driver selections. Jeep customer care says the only option is for owners to pay $1,000 to replace the unit with a dealer. This Jeep Overland is a 2018, and the problem appears to be endemic among Jeeps. It creates serious safety issues when the unit overrides driver choices, and is also distracting as the unit beeps and switches back and forth among options.

Touch screen in Jeep is delaminating. The delaminating has now caused the screen to malfunction. The screen is unusable and continues to cycle on its own through different stations, different calls, the seat controls, the back up camera (which is very disorienting on the highway) and through the apps.

Electronic radio unit constantly flips around to different areas beeping all the time. I think it is called phantom touches. It will change radio channels, affects climate control by turning up heat to 82 degrees, turns on backup camera while driving down the road at 70 miles an hour, constantly changes radio stations, doesn't allow you to use navigation system, plus many other things. I believe this is a known issue as I have seen many complaints on the internet and my dealership also has customers complaining about their cars. I have also made my dealership aware of the issue. They say there is nothing they can do as there has been no recall. There needs to be a recall on these as it is very dangerous to be driving when these things are occurring. Very distracting and you are unable to do anything about it. Sometimes you have to pull over and shut the car off and turn it back on to see if you can correct it but many times it keeps on doing the same thing.

The battery under my passenger seat caught on fire. The car was completely turned off and parked in my driveway. When I went to leave I opened the car door and black smoke was rolling out. 30 minutes prior I drove the car and there was no warning lights or issues. It was driving like normal. The car is currently being inspected by Jeep and my insurance. My husband and I's safety would have been at risk if we did not catch the fire as soon as we did, not only our lives but it could have hurt our neighbors who live close. As we were outside working when the fire started you could not smell or see the smoke coming out of the car.

The touchscreen on our Jeep has begun malfunctioning in ways that st dangerous and distracting. A staff member dealer service center and the electronic store with whom we discussed it said that this was a common problem with this car. But it is not covered by the limited warranty at this juncture and will be over 1200 dollars with labor. It seems more like a defect. Particularly in humid or times when there is a change in temperature, the touch screen begins self triggering, acting as if it's being rapidly and randomly pressed hundreds of times, triggering screen functions, dialing actual calls, changing radio stations, changing climate temperatures, turning on seat heating, etc. This is very distracting while driving. In addition it means that the climate controls on the car cannot be used. It appears that the touch screen glass has slightly separated from the underlying screen in the right upper quadrant, but it's hard to tell. If this is happening on many jeeps, it is a manufacturing issue and there should be a recall.

The component that is malfunctioning is the film behind the UConnect screen delaminating making the screen difficult to read in that area. Ensuring that the right screen icon/button is being pushed is made difficult because the screen is affected. This draws my attention away from the road in order to use the screen/the icons in the upper left corner. The problem has been confirmed as a known issue through UConnect and the Jeep Dealership and there has been a service bulletin put out for this issue (per reporting of representatives of each of the aforementioned). UConnect reps have stated they get calls regarding this regularly. Multiple instances from other Jeep/Chrysler consumers can be found on online forums. The component has been inspected and delamination was confirmed at the dealership. Due to the cost of the repair, I can not financially address this issue at this time. There are no warnings or messages related to this issue.

The touchscreen that controls heating/air/radio/backup camera/etc... is going haywire during driving the vehicle. This causes major distraction as it is flipping to one control to the next, changing the climate controls switching the navigation system and radio stations all while driving. There is no way to turn off the touchscreen or keep it frozen so it continues to do this while the car is in use. There are no warnings and the operator is powerless to make it stop.
