Driving home yesterday after a short 1 hour drive. As I pulled into my neighborhood my power steering went out. Fortunately I was able to make the last few turns to get home and get the truck into the driveway. After researching I discovered that this vehicle (2013 Ram 1500 ) has thousands of complaints online on your page and forums of people with the same problem. Chrysler recalled 2015-2016 vehicles with the same system but won't recall the vehicle the part first came out in. This morning I got up and the steering was fine, then an hour later it wasn't working again. I was fortunate that it didn't go out on my way home yesterday while on the narrow shand's bridge in green cove springs, Florida as any slight swerving on that bridge would probably lead to a head on collision since it is so narrow and has highway speeds. My truck only has 68,000 miles on it and has been babied since new. The dealer wants $3500 to replace the part. This is an extreme safety hazard and should be recalled since any sudden loss of power steering in a big truck is very dangerous. I had no warning signs that there was anything wrong with my truck before the loss of steering. Just made a turn and it was gone. Had this been my girlfriend driving she probably would have run into the neighbors yard or cars or kids on the corner where I made the turn because there is no way she was gonna turn that wheel after the power steering went out a quick internet search will show tons of complaints of the same problem. The part is the electric power steering module a picture of the part/ and or serial number is attached

Lost power steering while driving ( eps issue). This happened while making a turn and drove off the road. I understand there is a recall for this issue, the Dodge dealer tells me mine doesn't fall under this recall. Electronic power steering failure. I understand 8 people have died because of this issue, thank god I wasn't # 9. there is a recall for this issue for 2013 - 2019. This is very dangerous and should apply to all of them.

My power steering momentarily locked up yesterday and then again today driving at slow speeds turning the wheel sharply. At first I thought it was a problem with the hydraulic power steering pump, belt, or fluid until I looked into it and found it was electronic and there has been similar issues with other vehicles of the same make and there were safety recalls for other Ram trucks with different eps part numbers. I thought for sure mine would be on the list but was not.

Turned my truck on at approx 45 degrees F. received a "power steering warning" message and I had no power steering. I turned the truck off and back on and no warning light came up and power steering returned. It happened later that morning as well. I let the truck sit for a few minutes and again the warning went away and power steering returned. I cautiously drove the truck home and have not moved it. I believe this is related to a prior recall or similar one for the eps system. I have no idea whether this will go out while I'm driving the vehicle so I'm not taking my chances.

Referring to NHTSA campaign number: 16V167000. Recall on 2015-2016 Ram 1500, eps control circuit component failure. Recall should be extended to Ram 1500S to include all fourth generation models, 2013-2019. While driving experienced loss of power steering. This problem would resolve by restarting the vehicle to regain normal power steering. Power steering loss was intermittent then became more frequent till complete loss of power steering which could not be resolved by restarting the vehicle.

I was turning in to traffic and the steering quit working making it difficult to drive. I looked on the computer and found that other people have had the same problem, one recommended turn the vehicle off and restart it, I tried that and it work. I feel like this issue should be a recall because it could potentially cause an accident and or serious injuries or death to a driver or other people. In the 47 years I've been driving I have never experienced anything like this.

The contact owned a 2013 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while making a left turn at low speeds, the steering wheel failed to re-align to drive straight. The contact veered off the road and crashed into the rear of another vehicle causing the front driver tire, lower ball joint separated from the steering knuckle, inner tie rod end, shock assembly and lower control arm to detach. The vehicle was restarted and the steering resumed to normal but due to the front driver side damage, it needed to be towed. The contact mentioned that the power steering failed on several occasions while driving at low speeds. The air bag failed to deploy and the seat belt failed to restrain him. As a result, the contact hit his face and wrist against the steering wheel and windshield glass. The contact mentioned he would be going to the hospital for his injuries. The other driver was not injured. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the contacts residence. The dealer nor manufacturer were informed of the failure. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure mileage was approximately 97,000.

Just driving and power steering was lost completely. I was going about 55 around a curve and just about ended up in the ditch as it jerked the wheel! they tell me it's 2700$ to fix but seems that other years have a recall on the same issue and part and I believe this should be one as well if I was going faster or if a car would have been coming it could have been very bad

My 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 suddenly lost power steering while in motion causing me to enter a ditch and my vehicle suffered minor damage. The vehicle still runs fine but the emergency light is still on and there is no power steering. Online research showed mopar knows this is an issue with 2013-2015 models and recalls exist but my VIN shows no such recall. Lives will be lost if this issue is not addressed. My vehicle only has 70,000 miles on it and instant power steering loss on a fully functional vehicle is very concerning. If someone is on a curve as I was there is no way to navigate the situation.
