First week of December 2020, I had a normal oil change. The following day my Ram it would not turn over. It was towed to a local shop where I was told that it was the battery (even though the battery was only a year old). Found my Ram VIN had long list of open recalls. I contacted dealership. Provided with loaner. Service adviser said truck was not safe to drive because of the egr recall. A couple hundred more miles, a fire engine would have ensued. My egr had completely failed, coolant had gotten into my intake. Parts were backordered because manufacturing of mods just began. 12/24/20 all recall mods/repairs completed. Dealership advised truck was safe and operable. Received fcas extended limited warranty. 2 weeks later coolant/water leaking from underneath. Found the coolant levels dropped. Contacted dealership, service at that time could not find leak. Told to recheck in one week. 1 week later, levels not lower but coolant fluid smell after shutting off engine. Told it was normal. Friday 2/12/21 truck started irregularly and gurgled. Found coolant had dropped significantly below the recommended levels. Brought back to dealership. Before dropping it off another mechanic found coolant leak dripping down the 4 wheel drive actuator and front cover with traces of it coming out of the water pump and valve cover gasket. Put into a loaner. I was told my water pump failed. Not covered under new fca warranty. All recall repairs/modifications did not fix issues. Vehicle remained inoperable and dangerous. Coolant never stopped leaking into intake and other areas of engine. The egr is a component failed causing domino breakdown of entire truck engine. Recall states the failed egr will cause thermal fatigue and high temperatures to crack portions of the cooling system (hence the engine fires).

The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while his vehicle was idle, the vehicle began to overheat and white smoke started coming from the engine without warning. The contact immediately shut off the vehicle to prevent it from catching on fire. The contact then called an independent mechanic who arrived and inspected the vehicle. The mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact stated that an abnormal clicking sound was coming from the engine since experiencing the failure. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.

Aem update caused vehicle to perform in an unsafe manner. Hesitates upon acceleration from stop. Transmission shifts irregular and no longer slows vehicle downhill. During acceleration motor can redline and cause a rapid deceleration. Never sure exactly what is going to happen when pressing the fuel pedal. Never sure if it will safely go when it is supposed to. Fuel economy is also reduced from 28 mpg to 25 mpg. It is now a scary vehicle to drive. Was in right lane eastbound on highway 152 going over pacheo pass behind slow truck traffic at approximately 30 mph. When attempting to accelerate while changing lanes the motor went to redline and depowered. I quickly had to brake and get back in the right lane behind the truck traffic. The vehicle had never done anything like that in the 4-1/2 years prior to the aem. They ruined my truck with the modifications, it is a major safety issue when the truck shuts off power when accelerating.

The vehicle was moving down the road as I'm driving the truck just looses all power cuts off and I have to jerk it to side of the road to be towed to dealership. It's the tone wheel for crankshaft and crank shaft position sensor. And when taken to dealership they have no parts to fix my trucks and I was given a case worker with fca or Dodge and they can't get the parts it's been 3 months.

On October 1, 2020, my truck stalled while pulling out of my driveway and would not restart. A youtube video link is provided at the end of this description. The truck has been at the dealership ever since. Today (December 7, 2020) marks 68 consecutive days out of service for this problem and the truck remains undriveable. The problem was immediately diagnosed as a bad crank position sensor and tone ring. These same parts were recalled under 20V-475 (fca recall W58) back in August. I received written notification of the recall approximately 1 week after my truck failed. Fca and big O Dodge have been unable to repair my truck in a reasonable time, and are unwilling to provide a fair trade-in value or discuss buypack. This, despite the truck being part of the ecodiesel class-action lawsuit settlement that requires fca to buyback trucks that experience >30 days out of service during the 18 months following the emissions modification software. The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact stated while her husband was driving at 80 mph and towing a trailer, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was not drivable. The vehicle was towed multiple times and remained at the residence of an acquaintance. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that the crankshaft sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 20V475000 (engine and engine cooling) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact called several unknown dealers and it was confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. VIN tool confirms parts not available. The failure mileage was approximately 127,010.

My vehicle lost power and was unable to drive while driving on interstate 94. I was with my 2 year old toddler and had to wait for a tow truck and my wife to pick us up. I had the vehicle towed back home to my local mechanic to look and diagnose the problem. The diagnosed the issue as a crank sensor tone ring. They also notified me there was a recall coming for this issue. I contacted fca and was directed to tow the vehicle to a certified dealer. I towed the vehicle over to the dealer and they determined the issue is the same as my local mechanic determined. I am also being told there is currently not a fix for this part, only a temporary fix. Fca said they will not pay for any of the towing and diagnostics. Since it was there faulty part that caused me to become stuck on the side of an interstate I am looking to be compensated for the repairs, diagnostics, and towing. This is a safety issue and I will be without a vehicle for "quite awhile" according to the dealer. The fca recall number is W58.

Ive received some recalls on my 2015 Ram. The exhaust gas recirculation (egr) cooler an egr cooler with an internal crack will introduce pre-heated, vaporized coolant to the egr system while the engine is running. In certain circumstances, this mixture interacts with other hydrocarbons and air in the system, potentially resulting in combustion within the intake manifold, which may lead to a vehicle fire.also damaging the intake manifold. Ive been waiting 4 months for the parts, in the meantime the intake is getting damaged. The other recall the magnetic material attached to the tone wheel provides a signal to the crankshaft position sensor. If this signal material is lost, the engine loses its ability to synchronize injector pulses and cam timing. This loss of crankshaft position can result in an engine stall, as well as loss of the ability to restart the engine.the remedy is to update the powertrain control module software to maintain vehicle propulsion by reading the camshaft position signal in the event that crankshaft position signal is lost. How is updating software going to prevent something from coming apart why not replace the part.

My Ram 1500 truck hemi engine started with a ticking sound, then developed into a stalling issue and a check engine light display. The Dodge Ram dealer said it is an issue with the engine lifters and requires the dismantling of the entire engine to fix. The service writer advised me that this was a dangerous condition, and if not repaired the engine would blow up! I did some research and this issue is rampant of the Ram trucks with the hemi engine. There are many videos on youtube discussing this problem, and the mechanics on these videos say that this problem is extremely widespread. The repair would cost over $ 6,000. I have saved some of the videos and will gladly share them with you if needed.
