March 10,2023 2019 Ram 2500 Cummins 6.7L Diesel I picked up my truck from the dealership this morning, after they did the outstanding CP4 fuel pump recall. I drove the vehicle home (approx 20) miles. Parked the car in the driveway for about 3 hours. Then took a short trip to the store. After the store, when leaving the parking lot I noticed an electrical/plastic smell. Within in seconds smoke started to come through the air vents. I pulled the truck over, turned off the truck, open the hood when fire exspelled from the engine compartment. Immediately call the fire department. They arrived in minutes to put out the fire, but at that point the whole front end of the truck was on fire and smoking (dense white/gray smoke). Then there was a loud burst of flame that came from the engine compartment. The fire worked its way into the cab compartment, burned it completely. The truck is totaled.

I have been having issues starting my truck when I took it in they said it was an ecu reflags needed. I believe it is an open recall y78 for over a year and they do not have the part. But my truck all of a sudden loss power on the freeway doing 65 my wife and daughter started crying I barely made it to the edge of the freeway with being hit within inches of a semi truck. We sat on the side of the freeway with trucks passing us shaking our truck from the wind. Finally I had to call Chp to have cars slow down when it became night time I fears for the safety of my wife and daughter. Yes the issue now is it won-€™t start at all but they are telling me go somewhere else it could take 2-3 months to fix the issue. No one inspected it yet just that it wouldn-€™t start. It was continuously having power surges but too light. Then all of a sudden loss power and it says service exhaust system see dealer.

Smoke emanated from the engine bay shortly after starting the vehicle first thing in the morning. The temperature outside was less 40*. Shortly after seeing smoke, the engine bay was engulfed in flames, centered on the hood, near the windshield. Newer vehicles have fire risk recalls regarding the intake-grid heater shorting out, but not the 2019 model. The grid heater would have been on due to the temperature. Please see the reports from the Police and Fire Department attached. The truck was totaled.

Issue with high pressure fuel pump and loss of turbo boost. At first Mopar/ Dodge refused to replace the fuel pump regardless of the recall. After hours on the phone they finally agreed to replace fuel pump but said no idea why turbo isn-€™t working correctly.

I was driving home from the market and the truck slowed down to 16 mph. I could not go any faster. I pulled over to the middle of the street and turned the truck off for a minute. I then restarted it and attempted to drive it somewhere safe. The truck finally came to a stop right before an intersection. I had to get out because cars were coming fast. I was afraid someone was going to hit me. I called AAA right away. They told me the tow truck was on the way and that they would send the police. The police never showed up. The tow truck got there in about 15 minutes. The only information i have is the fuel system has a error code of P0087 and reads Fuelrail system pressure-too low. Check engine light is on, It did say something about the fuel system and the truck will not start. No one has looked at the truck yet. I will be calling the dealer this coming week to see about getting it checked out and having recall issues taken care of.

In August 2020, while I was driving my vehicle at approximately 15 mph, with approximately 13,500 miles on the odometer, I noticed that the vehicle's transmission gauge was about 230-240 degrees. I pulled over and smelled smoke. Luckily, my passengers and I were able to get out of the vehicle. The vehicle was completely destroyed. I have video showing flames coming out of the passenger side engine compartment. I had previously taken my vehicle in for repair for recall W03 to have the transmission valve body replaced so the transmission wouldn't cause an engine fire. FCA had an expert inspect the vehicle and he found that "fire progression appears to be from engine compartment thru entire vehicle terminating at rear truck bed, " that "possible source of ignition is hot surface of turbocharger/exhaust components. - Most likely method of ignition is transmission fluid expelled from dipstick tube, " "origin appears to be in the engine compartment, " and "possible cause appears to be transmission fluid expelled from dipstick tube onto turbocharger/exhaust components. The determination of possible cause is based on: 1. Owner/driver's description of events. 2. Transmission of dipstick is extended ~ 27.0 inch from the fill tube." Despite this, FCA refused to pay me for my destroyed vehicle (or the trailer that it destroyed) because: "After the inspection of your vehicle, the information at hand would not permit us to associate the fire with a manufacturing or assembly error. We are sure you will understand fires of this nature can and do occur for a number of reasons not associated with the manufacturing process. Therefore, we must respectfully decline any assistance associated with this matter. Based on this, we suggest that you refer this matter to your insurance carrier..." I already had the transmission fire recall performed and my truck still blew up. Luckily, I was not injured. I am worried that if FCA does not do another recall, other trucks will blow up too.

Truck has CP4 fuel injector pump. Pump can fail without warning. When it fails the pump distroys the fuel rail system. Truck can then leave the occupants in a dangerous situation. When pump shuts down the engine you loose steering and brakes. You also loose the exhaust brake feature. Has not happened on my truck. These pumps will fail at some point.

I purchased a 2019 Ram 2500 truck, and began having issue with the truck dropping into neutral at just over 1000 miles. I went to the dealer and they checked codes, but I didn't make sure they documented it. It seemed to only happen when going in reverse and turning, so I continued to drive it. Then at 6670 miles it happened while driving and in an intersection. I had come to a stop at a light, then when the light turned green I proceeded to turn right. I got about 10 feet into the turn and the truck acted like it went into neutral. I was able to coast to the side of the road and the message that was on the dash stated shift into park, then into desired gear. I did and was able to drive off the road and into a parking spot of a nearby business. I brought the truck in and they opened a star case. Eventually they changed the transmission valve body and reprogrammed several things. They told me the problem was solved. At 9059 miles it happened again. This time I was backing into a driveway so I was able to pull out my phone and take a video of the flashing light over the shifter and in the cluster. The first incident happened on 1/13/2020 with 1520 miles on vehicle. The incident in the intersection happened on 5/21/2020 with 6670 miles on the odometer. The last incident happened on 7/7/2020 with 9059 miles on the odometer.

This safety recall occurred in January 2020 and I received notice from Dodge Ram (Chrysler). I have called dealers in St george and las vegas who have told me the same: They only get a few parts per week or two to fix the problem and placed me on the dealers "waiting list." I have been on the waiting list for four months! this is a safety warning regarding possible fire on my new vehicle. Further inquiry by myself has revealed the following: 1. Chrysler Dodge Ram is not producing adequate numbers of the simple part thereby jeopardizing safety of purchasers and their family/friends. 2. the few parts that Chrysler Dodge does produce goes to vehicles on the lot so that they can sell these vehicles asap. This shows no regard for the safety of prior purchasers. To think that Chrysler Dodge cannot order / produce the part in mass quantities when they knew the recall was coming is nonsense. By the way, this is in regards to the W03 2019-2020 safety recall.

The contact owned a 2019 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving smoke suddenly came from under the hood and the vehicle immediately stopped accelerating. The contact was able to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher and water. The contact stated that her and her spouse was burnt on their hands and later seeked medical attention for smoke inhalation. The fire department along with the police department contacted however, the fire was already extinguished by time they reached the scene. The contact does not know if a police or fire report was filed. The contact stated that the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and she received an email stating that the manufacturer would buyback the vehicle. However, the manufacturer has been unresponsive to the contact's attempts to process the buyback program. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 20V043000 (power train). The contact stated that the insurance company will not pay the claim as a result of the recall and the buyback offer. The dealer mountain home auto ranch (2800 american legion blvd, mountain home, id 83647 888-229-6919) was made aware of the failure however, the failure was not diagnosed. The dealer assisted the contact in getting a claim number from the manufacturer. The failure mileage was 21,000.
