2009 Toyota Camry SE driver side top of dashboard melting making a crack about 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch. It looks like a patch on the dashboard compared to approximately the size of an adult hand. The melting area gets worst with the heat and lifting up with an uneven bump on the dashboard. Note: Vehicle was not involved on any accidents 9/30/2014.

The dashboard material started leaking, oozing some sticky gluey fluid that got real worse when it was hot. Driving on a sunny day became very hard since the dashboard was very shiny glare reflected on the windshield and visibility was very low. I thought this was a safety issue & did some google research. I realized I was not alone. I brought this up to Toyota attention by an email. They referred me to the dealer. Dealer basically said the car was out of warranty and they need money to fix the issue. This issue is a "defective" material use by Toyota. They need to fix this within a "safety" recall.

Interior roof lining began sagging; and sun visor; lost its ability to return to original position. Took car to dealership they said it was not under warranty. I took car and had roof lining replaced at bahamas auto upholstery - ave 4742 sw 75 ave. Tel (305) 262-050 I paid $275; the technician said that it was common in Toyota with a sun roof, in Florida. The driver side sun visor lost adhesive and snapped off, has not been replaced. At the same time I noticed that the interior dashboard was loosing its integrity, therefore I purchased a stronger reflective sun protective visor for interior, but it has not helped, dash is now melting.

I have a 2009 Camry xle with the sticky dash issue! the dash is turning into a glue like substance. It also has a noticeable smell when it is hot out where the dash is letting off fumes. There is a glare which is amplified from his issue. Im not sure if the fumes are toxic but I have to keep the windows open to air it out when I 1st get in. When I purchased the car I even bought the extended warranty from Toyota and a interior warranty! well guess what! its not covered! the interior trim warranty by perma plate states it covers cracked staining or faded dash and trim not sticky! I was told this is a manufacturing defect where the glue is coming through the dash. I went to the dealer and they told me to call Toyota customer service ! I call and got the standard sympathy statement of its out of warranty! to try to get a discount from your dealer? well I bought this car in Maine, moved to Florida in 2010 so yes there is a local dealer but not where I bought this car.

So far, there is no accident, (I had to place a date on this form so I can submit) however, I am concerned with my melting dashboard. This is creating a sun glare on my driver's side windshield, it could cause an accident, if I cannot see out of my windshield while driving.

Dashboard is sticky and shiny. I brought the car to West kendall Toyota. Advisor said he would get me a quote. The quote for me is $400 to replace the dashboard. This is not right and Toyota should cover the total cost. The sheen on the dash also creates a glare on sunny days, which create a safety hazard. Toyota is avoiding a recall for the use of inferior parts.

I had picked up a passenger about 1 1/2 hours from my home. I was returning home & noticed that the gas pedal was accelerating even tho I was pressing the brake. I couldn't stop the car& a curvy road was ahead along with a cliff. My option was to go over the cliff or go into possible oncoming traffic to try to stop the vehicle. I opted to try to turn the car into a nearby driveway. Luckily no oncoming traffic was close enough to hit my car as I did this. The driveway was slanted & as I turned into the driveway I smacked into a snow bank which tore my front bumper off. Luckily there were no personal injuries. I reported this to Toyota & my insurance ( at the time of the accident I had heard about a Toyota recall having to do with gas pedal but it had been a while & I hadn't received notification of the recall affecting my vehicle). My personal car insurance covered the $3000 worth of damage to the bumper radiator, grill, etc. Over 4 years later & I still haven't recovered my deductible from Toyota for a known defect in the pedal! had I been notified timely of the recall affecting my vehicle this could have been avoided! instead, I had to cover the cost to repair damage out of my pocket & I had whiplash for a few weeks caused by a known issue Toyota knew of! I'm furious & disappointed that I chose a Toyota!

While driving S on I95 just North of ponte vedra exit between jacksonville and St. Augustine, fl a large piece of tire retread/recap came down in my lane and I had no option but to hit it going between 65-70mph causing damage to my front and rear bumpers and unknown damage underneath until it is checked out. Tire recap causes many accidents or vehicular damage with no repercussions. If I were to drop large items from my vehicle that damaged other vehicles or caused accidents, there would be severe repercussions. Money is no excuse for safety, make them pay for tires or stay off the road!

Car parked in sun, dashboard material getting very sticky/gooey. If touched, it gets damaged. It shows a very shiny appearance when hot ( like if you used a tire shine on it), on sunny days it creates a lot of glare on the windshield affecting visibility. Dash cannot be wiped with anything because it is very sticky and gooey. I can accept dashboard damage on a 10year plus car, but not on a 4 year old car.this is clearly a material defect and it prompts for a recall. Specially because of the glare on the front windshield the dash creates when it is very hot. Lots of people complaining of this in many internet forums. Hopefully they will fill out a complain to get this matter resolved by Toyota.

I have a Toyota Camry 2009. My car went through the recall services, Toyota had for the acceleration problems through one of their dealers. However, on 02/08/2013, I was involved in an accident, wherein I felt this problem myself. On a busy road I may have been driving between 35-40 mph, when all of a sudden, when I applied brakes, my car wouldn't stop but accelerated to maybe double the speed and hit the car in front of me. It appeared as if there are no brakes in the car.the impact was so severe, that I am still nervous and shaken up with the incident. The person driving the car I hit, thought I was speeding. But it definitely was the acceleration problem. This problem has not yet resolved and could lead to many more accidents. I have reported this problem to Toyota dealership and on their suggestion to the Toyota customer experience team. I was extremely lucky, that there were no physical injuries in the accident, but it could have been fatal.

On 10/19/2012, the windshield molding on the upper driver side was separating from the glass and was cracking in other areas. The molding was inspected by local Toyota dealerships and they questioned the installation of the windshield. It was explained the car has one owner and the windshield had not been damaged or replaced. I was told I could have it repaired for $400 or come back when I experience leaking. I was not satisfied with either answer especially since the Toyota plant, located in Kentucky, incorrectly installed the windshield and now I am being told I have to pay for the botched installation. After researching recent tsbs, I found the 09-12 Tacoma's were experiencing the same issues I have on my car. The tsb 0062-12 states the incorrect installation of the windshield/windshield molding was causing wind noise and the remedy was to replace the windshield/windshield molding. Although the tsb specifies wind noise as a minor nuisance, the defect has the potential to affect the integrity of the windshield as well as other electrical components due to the faulty molding. I am requesting the tsb be expanded to cover Camry exhibiting the same symptoms and make dealers responsible for correcting the defect.
