Door ajar light comes on saying door is open and no matter how many times you shut the door it still stays on. Because of this interior lights are staying on and doors will not lock when in drive. This happens when you turn on the vehicle even if you did not open that door. It started with this just happening once a week and now it happens every time I start my car. It is just on the passenger door.

My driver side door latch seems to be failing. My door ajar light comes one when the door is closed. I'm not sure if it actually is or not. It has yet to open on its on, but upon some research it appears this could happen. When the driver side door says its ajar the doors won't lock. I've had to open and close my door a dozen times just to get the interior lights to shut off. This happens on a daily basis. I've also had the good fortune of getting in the car and the door ajar light doesn't come on. Then I put the car in drive, start my way down the road only for the door ajar light to come on and the interior lights come on as well. More often than not though, the door ajar light comes on immediately. Again, I'm not sure if it's sensor, or if the door latch is malfunctioning. I'm not sure if the door is even latched when I'm driving. I've looked online and this seems to be a costly issue to repair. Ford seems to have done a recall on certain makes except the Edge.

A few thousand miles ago I replaced the door latch on the drivers door due to failure, and now the left rear sensor has failed. This results in cabin lighting suddenly coming on, refusing to go off, and leaving my vehicle illuminated when parked. When first occurred, I pulled over on a busy highway to assure my daughter (in the rear seat) was safe and the door wouldn't fly open. Recognizing it now as a sensor, and the second on this vehicle, I'm shocked to see that Ford still thinks this is ok and should not be addressed.

Control panel states doors ajar and lights won't turn off or doors won't lock. Dome light stays on and creates dangerous conditions at night when trying to back out or while driving. Lights will also come back on when stopped at stop light and won't go back off until a certain rate of speed has been met due to the system thinking the door is ajar when it's not. Doors will also not lock when car is off and dome light stays on draining battery till the battery is dead sitting in parked position. It is also climate sensitive and is worse on cold or humid days. Both the driver and the drivers passenger door is affected and creates extremely dangers driving conditions. This has been going on for at least 6 months and continues to get worse.

This occurs while both stationary and moving.

Door ajar latch/sensor continues to stick which keeps the door ajar light on and keeps the interior lights and park lights on after turning off car, closing door, and locking car. Interior lights and park lights are hard to notice during daylight hours and this results in draining battery which leaves the owner stranded. This happens repeatedly!

Received a door ajar message for driver side door on instrument panel and interior light would stay on even though door was closed. Doors would not lock while driving and would hear a constant dinging sound and would receive a message on console saying shift to park. The door latch had to be replaced on 3/13/17 and cost $590. The mileage on this vehicle is 42,716 when the latch failed and was repaired.

The door ajar warning light keep coming on for my drivers side door even though all doors are closed and fully latched. The lights stay on after the the car has been parked and all doors closed, causing the battery to drain quickly. The warning will also come on while I am driving and each time I come to a stop. Problem is intermittent. It will do it most of the time and then occasionally, the door ajar will work properly.

Sensor for driver door keeps coming on when door is clearly shut. This causes battery to drain, interior lights to remain on, doors to not lock, and constant beeping. Researched it and tens of thousands of people have the same problem and are paying $300+ to fix it and having it happen a year later again.

Door ajar light remains on when door is shut and interior lights stay on. In addition, each time you stop and resume driving the chimes ding which distract driver. If you do not notice interior lights are on when you lock your car, battery will be dead when you return. In addition to a increased possibility of a motor vehicle accident this defect also subjects you to being victim of a crime when you return to a stranded vehicle and have to wait for assistance to arrive.

I have been having a problem with the driver's door of my '13 Ford Edge limited indicating that it is ajar (warning and interior lights on) when it is not. In order for it to quit, I have to either very firmly close the door (slam it) or open and close it a few times until it senses that it is in fact fully closed. It is also draining my battery because when I exit the vehicle sometimes the interior lights stay on. There have been a few occasions that I had to jump start my car. The door ajar light stays on when the vehicle is parked and in motion.

The driver door ajar switch/alarm remains on when the drivers door is firmly closed when stationary and when in motion. This causes the dome light to remain on which makes it hard to see, dangerous, to drive at night. The doors will not lock when driving which can be unsafe. This condition is constant on any type of street or any parking situation. My Edge had around 31,000 miles when this problem started.

For the past several months I have been having a problem with a message telling me that the driver door is ajar. The message tells me to put the car in park and shut the door. After several tries to get the message off, sometimes it will work but most of the time I end up shutting and reshutting the door to get the message off. And while the message is on the interior lights stay on. Sometimes I spend hours trying to get the message off. I have been told that it is a sensor. This needs to be fixed. A recall must be made to take care of this problem. Also, in addition to the lights staying on, the doors will not lock. It is very annoying and not safe. Also, I am worried that the battery will run down. I am getting to the point that I don't even want to drive the car.
