While driving - even though the driver door is completely shut, the driver door ajar warning sign appears on the dashboard screen accompanied by the sound of a chime. Sometimes when you open and shut the driver door whether while still driving or if and when you find a side of the road space, the warning sign disappears. But oftentimes, it takes 3 or four tries to make it disappear. Sometimes the driver door ajar warning comes with an instruction to shift to P (park).... which is helpful if you can find a side of the road spot otherwise the instruction will just confuse a novice driver and could potentially create an accident. I search the internet and found this problem is very common with Ford Edge. I feel that this problem could potentially create an accident and warrants a recall.

Driver door ajar sensor does not recognize that door is closed. This prevents all doors from being in the locked position while operating the vehicle. Manually locking the doors is overridden by the system and automatically unlocked. There is no way to operated the vehicle with the doors in the locked position.

No matter how hard you close the door on the drivers side of our Ford Edge. The door light keeps coming on and demanding you put the car park to shut the door. However the door takes for ever to register that it is closed and sometimes doesn't register.

Instrument panel shows driver ajar when door is not ajar. Door has to be opened and closed repeatedly until instrument panel no longer shows driver door ajar. The door ajar light will randomly come on while driving, causing cabin lights to come on, which is especially hazardous when it is dark out. This is a serious issue with multiple Ford vehicles and must be addressed.

Driver side door shows up on display as being open along with engine on message. I have to close the door anywhere from 2-5 times to get the door message gone. Also when I enter the vehicle after it's been parked the interior lights stay on and I have to start the car and shut it off to get them to go out.

Door ajar light and chimes will stay on even though the drivers door is obviously closed. No matter how hard you close the door it still does this. This problem also will not allow the doors to be locked while driving. That is a hazard ! also, when the car is parked, the head liner lights stay lit for 10 minutes until the computer defaults them to turn off. Because the sensor thinks the door is ajar. I do believe this is a hazard, do being able to lock the doors while driving is unacceptable:(

Door ajar keeps coming on when getting into the vehicle. In the past month its occurred several times. I start backing out of my driveway and it dings so I have put the vehicle in park and reopen driver door and slam shut to get it to turn off. Its getting worse and worse.

Driver door switch not letting module know the door is closed. Door would have to be opened and closed multiple time before module or switch would pick it up. What affect will this have on the air bags if I need them?

I have a 2013 Ford Edge SE with driver door issue of not locking even if door is shut. Door chime comes on letting me know that the door is not shut even though it is. If the door is not registering with the module saying it is shut what impact with this have on the air bags going off when needed.

Warning come on that the driver door is ajar even though it isn't. I have to slam the door shut several times before it goes off. The other doors do not lock when this happens and endangers my child because of this. Also cannot lock the doors when leaving it parked if this happens. This issue is well documented by many people. I have no idea why NHTSA will not act on this.

"driver door ajar warning_. Have to shut the door numerous times in order for the warning to go off. Interior lights stay on until the door is shut numerous time which has gotten to be really a pain. Started experiencing this problem just outside the vehicle mileage warranty. Dealer has refused to repair under warranty. This sucks.

The drivers door ajar light stays on even when the door is completely closed. The interior lights remain on (hard to see at night with the interior light on) and the doors will not lock due to the door ajar warning light being on. Every time I press the brakes to stop the truck tell me to shift the truck to park because of this.
