While driving on the interstate, the vehicle completely lost power under acceleration. I took it to a Ford dealer and they fixed it free of charge. They said that they are aware of the issue, but have not had time to send out a recall yet.

On 8/15/14 car sputtered while driving at 30-35 mph and slowed to a stop. Would not re-start immediately but eventually did after 10 minutes. It then sputtered and stopped a couple times within a mile or two. The auto mechanic did not find any bad computer codes. He did clean the throttle body and replaced the air filter. The car ran well without any problem for 3 weeks and 1,100 miles. On 9/11/14 the car again sputtered and slowed to a stop. My wife was able to re-start it. The auto mechanic again found no bad computer codes. He could not explain the cause. Web search revealed many other drivers with similar issues with 2010 Ford Fusion fuel system. Definitely a dangerous condition.

While driving on the highway at 65 mph, the engine suddenly went into idle and it was not possible to accelerate. I was fortunately able to make my way over to the shoulder without causing an accident before the car came to a shaking halt. This then happened 3 more times as I made my way on local roads to a Ford dealer. Also fortunately, the dealer repaired my car (replaced throttle body and reprogrammed), which was no longer under warranty, free of charge. I don't know why such a potentially life threatening defect has not been the subject of a recall.

Been noticing the car would idle rough from time to time. Was driving home on August 25, 2014 and the wrench light came on, had no acceleration, even put the pedal to the floor board. Pulled off shut car down, and restarted and everything was good. Did notice some more sputtering on the drive home. Took it in August 27, 2014 and dealer stated it was the throttle body sensor. $485 to repair this. I have a 2005 Ford F150 also and stuck $3,700 into it last year. Thinking these will be the last Ford products I will ever own. I have a 2002 Toyota Camry with 225,000, only thing I ever replaced, other than regular maintenance items, was the water pump.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the vehicle was violently jerking and was extremely difficult to drive. The sensor illuminated for the throttle body on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who diagnosed and replaced the electronic throttle body. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 66,212. Updated 10/8/14 the consumer stated the vehicle model was not included in the recall. Updated 3/26/2015

I was driving on the interstate at approx. 55 mph, with cruise control activated. The vehicle suddenly deactivated T he cruise control and started slowing down. Wrench light came on, and it stopped responding to pressing of the accelerator. I steered the vehicle off the interstate and on to an exit ramp, with brakes and steering unaffected. When I put it in park, the engine was sputtering and the car shaking. After shutting off the engine and restarting, the vehicle ran normally without warning lights. Repair shop employees said it was probably the throttle body, but because the car computer had not recorded the codes, they weren't sure.

I was driving on an interstate going 70+ mph when my gas peddle stopped working, it would not make my car accelerate. The rpms dropped down to 1000-1500 and my car immediately started to slow down. I pulled to the side of the road and as I slowed down the car jumped and acted like it was stalling out. The wrench light on the dash also illuminated. I put the car in park and turned off the ignition, thinking that my car was broken down and I was going to have to get it towed. I thought to restart the car and when I did, it ran fine. Until 3 days later when it repeated the same symptoms, 3 times in one day. It has now been a week and I have had countless times where this has happened, many times on the interstate, or busy roads. Just today in a 2 mile stretch this happened 4 times!

Power steering suddenly failed with no prior warning while in reverse. Electronic power steering rack failed after only 80K miles on car. Purchased new from Ford dealer. 2nd major issue with this car. The first was the electronic throttle body. This year and model have so many issues. Just a quick google search will tell you that.

When I purchased the vehicle at 43,000 miles a check fuel fill inlet warning appeared. I main tended the inlet system and the warning and check engine light would disappear. As time went on I noticed that when I would merge onto a busy highway, my car would barely move. I have come very close to death and causing others injuries because of this. I had the throttle body checked after the recall and the mechanic said that the throttle wasn't the issue. A P0456 appeared and that means a small evaporate leak. I asked the dealership if they performed a smoke test and he said no. After paying 90$ for a diagnostic fee that wasn't performed accordingly to the tab bulletin, I became very angry and frustrated with Ford. Every ime I switch gears or even accelerate my car jerks so hard that I hear what is my engine or transmission loudly shifting. This past week my car won't start. It takes 15-20 seconds to turn on. After someone jumped the vehicle when I was stuck at work, my check engine light disappeared, my sync and voice featured disappeared, and now I can't even charge my phone! also, the air conditioner quit working as well. I feel as though all of the cars functions are deleting themselves from the car. I do not feel safe in this vehicle and I cannot continue to work because of it. How can I pay for an expensive repair when I can't drive to make the money? I take very good care of the vehicle and do not feel financially responsible for this poorly manufactured car. They need to recall the 2010 Ford Fusion before someone gets hurt or even something worse.

As I pulled out onto a busy street going to work my car would not respond to gas, I had the pedal to the floor with no response other than a weak attempt at a lurch. I had to pull over (partially off of the road) into a neighbor's yard to avoid being hit by a large Transport truck coming up on me rapidly. I pushed it into a "turned around" position and between pushing an the lurching got back home. The road I was on was too narrow and too busy to just leave it. I have a history of back surgery and this did not help!!!! after I got it to the hill near my home I coasted in still with no response to the gas. There was an orange light on with a wrench picture. I looked this up online and found numerous sites with others having the same problem with no help from Ford! some were actually rear-ended on the interstates so I was fortunate in that aspect! (so far!) there is no recall on this issue and it seems that Ford cannot diagnose it unless the light is currently on! the code erases once the engine is turned off and restarted so they "cannot" diagnose it and therefore send us back out in the defective vehicle. There is no warning that this is about to happen and there is no way to "move fast" enough to get out of the way of traffic. This could be fatal in fast moving thick traffic with larger vehicles coming up from behind at speed limits of 70 mph. The car will not move when it does this and rpms do not go above 1000rpm. Are recalls only done when someone dies? if so, I need to trade this car in asap!

Myself and two passengers (including 10 month old) were riding northbound on the interstate at approximately 65 mph. Our 2010 Ford Fusion suddenly went into safe mode (aka "limp home mode") where the car continues to have power (steering, brakes, HVAC systems) but it does not respond to pressing on the accelerator. We were traveling along at ~3-5mph with other traffic still traveling full speed. Extremely dangerous situation in an extremely dangerous vehicle. A Ford dealer had just performed recall 13B17 on the vehicle, which recalibrated the powertrain. Unfortunately they did not install a new throttle body, which is covered on this vehicle in satisfaction program 13N03.

It will work for a little bit and then I loose acceleration again. Has happen on the highway, at a intersection, and side roads. I had the throttle replaced and it still happens......

While driving on the interstate at highway speeds in the left hand lane, the vehicle lost all ability to accelerate. While all other controls remained (steering, braking, HVAC), the vehicle was unable to accelerate or maintain highway speeds. The service wrench light activated on the dashboard and the vehicle indicated a transmission error. This was a dangerous situation as not having the ability to accelerate while on the interstate makes it very hard to position the vehicle safely on the roadway. Vehicle was towed to a Ford garage where it was diagnosed as a known problem with the throttle body. While it was a known issue, Ford only extended the warranty on the item and did not recall the vehicle. Given the danger associated with the loss of acceleration, this vehicle should have been recalled before the vehicle lost the ability to accelerate while on an interstate.

I was driving at a low speed of approximately 20-25 mph behind a large truck. Truck pulled over to let people pass, and when I tried to accelerate, nothing happened and the speed dropped to 5mph and did not respond to accelerator pedal. An "orange wrench, repair needed" indicator light was on as I coasted off road and turned off ignition. Waited 10 minutes, restarted car and drove home without incident. There was also another incident that seemed insignificant at the time: About 2 months ago, when accelerating to go up a hill, the car did not respond and crawled extremely slow uphill, but was ok when back on flat ground. Recently received letter from Ford about a recall repair for problem with throttle body, causing car to lose power, and to bring it in for a calibration upgrade. Upgrade is to give slightly more power if you should have problem, but does not correct problem since not all cars will experience loss of power. Went to dealer after I had lost power, asking for replacement of throttle body since I had an "incident" as described in recall. They only did a calibration upgrade since they could "not duplicate the problem" at repair shop.computer diagnostics did not record a problem with throttle body. Said "no codes in PCM. Re-flashed PCM, return to customer". the incident that happened to me was real, and potentially very dangerous. Had I been out on the busy highway, it could have been fatal. I feel that if Ford knows there is a problem and refuses to correct it when a problem is reported, they are being negligent. I wanted to somehow document what happened to me, since I feel the car is unsafe to drive, and this problem will likely happen again.Ford knows about the problem, but if they can't trust what is being reported by a customer, the safety of anyone who owns one of these cars is being compromised. This is a very dangerous issue.

We had been driving for 175 miles on the highway with the cruise control set. The car suddenly lost power with no warning and started slowing down. The service engine light came on as did the symbol of a wrench. I pulled off to shoulder. The car was idling very rough. Stepping on the gas did not raise the engine speed. I shut the engine off and looked under the hood. There was nothing obviously wrong. I tried to restart the engine. It started and ran just fine. The warning lights were off. About 16 miles later the same thing happened. There was a small Ford dealer a few miles away so I took it in. The person I spoke with was aware of this issue and indicated there was a service bulletin about it. Apparently the problem is with the throttle body. They did not have one available. He said the car should always restart and we should be able to make it home. We drove the next 300 miles wondering what would happen. The car was fine for the rest of the trip. When we got home I looked this up on the internet and found countless postings of the same issue. It is obviously well known. Given this, I think there should be a recall. This is very dangerous. We were on vacation (myself, wife, children) on a rural highway when the engine failed the first time. A semi truck was behind us and started catching up fast as I drifted off to the shoulder. They were blowing the air horn at me because there was another truck coming the other way and he could not move over.

I was in a line of traffic to turn left at a turn signal. The cars in front of me went when the light turned green. When the light turned yellow, the truck in front of me stopped. I went from accelerating to braking, and the brake was pushed to the floor, but the car was still accelerating. I obviously rear-ended the car in front of me. He said he could see me and let off his brake when he realized my car wasn't stopping. Luckily, no one was injured. I have scheduled an appointment to have the car looked at tonight at a dealership. This has happened before without incident, and I thought I was just imagining it.

I was driving at 50 mph when the engine stopped working, even as I floored the accelerator. The lights, radio and A/C stayed on. I had to coast across several lanes of at least 50 mph traffic to the shoulder. As I turned off the engine, the car rumbled and shuddered for several seconds. I waited a minute, then restarted the car and was able to drive. Ford covered the problem under an "extended warranty" for a throttle body problem, but I feel that my safety was in jeopardy by not fixing the problem before my car engine suddenly quit at high speed. In this area, having a car suddenly dive from 50 mph to almost nothing can get you killed. The throttle body problem should have been covered by a safety recall, rather than waiting to see who survives the problem to take the car in for service.

The throttle body failed on my 2010 Ford Fusion that I purchased last month. The car felt as if it simply stopped working and would not accelerate. Thankfully, it occurred at a low speed, though it was very frightening. Apparently, this is a known issue and Ford says it isn't covered under the powertrain warranty. I am concerned about driving the car, and I feel as though this known defective part will fail again.
