I have had all kinds of electrical issues with my 2015 Cherokee trailhawk 4X4 and this all happened after they did 4 upgrades on my computer at dealership, when picked up SUV the check engine was on, took back to dealer and they said they flashed it what ever that means. The check engine disappeared afterwards, I have had issues with it lunging when letting foot off brake due to the auto on & off feature and just recently was driving and the air bad light, traction light, 4 wheel drive and check engine light came on I pulled over due to this and when putting in park felt like someone rear ended me in which they didnt, the 4 wheel drive light comes on with message that four wheel drive has been disabled contact dealer, that started it all that morning. Then all the other lights illuminated and beeping, I took to dealer in richmond ky and they brought out the scanner and scanned it and printed off several things that was coming up then advised me they couldn't do anything to check vehicle for 2 weeks I then called lexington dealer and they said bring it in, I had it towed to lexington dealer, now they say they cant get it to duplicate anything. Well now this is the issue I have intermittent electrical issues that deems this vehicle unsafe to drive because it is can shut down as others has said or catch fire or accelerate on its own etc. There is definitely issues with this vehicle that no one can explain. I have ask dealership to contact Jeep mfg/Chrysler to see about what they say its very scary having a vehicle that you cant trust to be safe in. Its already had me rear end a car by the lunging after you let off brake now this... I just feel unsafe in my new vehicle.... I purchased this vehicle to to be a safe one. And its definitely not safe due to being intermittent electrical issues. Dealers doesn't have a clue about the electrical malfunctions of these cars.

I have a 2015 Cherokee trailhawk 3.6L V6 love it except for the issues. This is my very first and very last fca Jeep product I will own unless this vehicle somehow becomes reliable. At 3,860 miles while driving my power windows failed it will not go up or down and my blind spot monitor which I paid extra for and depend on for added safety failed at the same time. I was heading to work and my windows will not operate and is stuck in the down position in a parking lot for 8 hours hoping no one would try to break in my car. Now my vehicle is at 13,600 mile and I'm starting to experience all the other owners transmission failure issues, but mine haven't happen enough for the dealer to attempt to fix it. While driving, the transmission will get stuck in a low gear and will not change even after heavy acceleration and then after about 6 seconds it will suddenly change and lunge forward. Other times the transmission will get stuck in a high gear and when I try to accelerate it will not drop a gear to accelerate and my wife avoid highways because she is afraid the vehicle will stall on an entrance ramp while merging. Another issue is when reversing from a cold start and then putting the vehicle in drive the vehicle seems to get stuck in either neutral or reverse because it will not go forward until I really punch the accelerator and then it will lung forward. My last complaint about this vehicle is minor but still and issue. The power lift gate will sometimes get stuck and not open until I try it a few times.

First occurring in the fall of 2015, the power lift gate failed to latch. It would no longer respond to attempts to open it electronically, and instead remained unlatched. Any pressure placed against the lift gate from the inside raised the lift gate. We had it serviced, the problem seemed to be fixed, but as of 6 August 2016 we are experiencing the same problem again. This problem is unique and unrelated to the recall issued in December of 2015. With three dogs that ride in our vehicle with us, we absolutely cannot drive with a lift gate that doesn't close. Additionally, the engine lags dangerously behind acceleration sometimes, like when driving through an intersection. It will start to accelerate, then the transmission seems to disengage, and the vehicle loses power completely for a few seconds before the powertrain engages again. We've already almost been in two accidents because of this problem.

Transmission shifting and reliability. We have the trailhawk version of the Cherokee. We are having issues of a clank/bang occasionally about 40-42mph; it can be felt in the floorboard. Sometimes we will get this in reverse when we start to move. The biggest complaint is when trying to leave a light or intersection and step on the gas nothing happens or it slowing starts to speed up or it takes off like a jackrabbit. It is not consistent. When leaving an intersection we are not confident in what type of reaction we are going to get. Will it move or maybe decide to move eventually. Also, normal acceleration seems spongy or bouncy. It is like pressing gas pedal down (slightly) then letting off; on off, on off, on off. It happens quickly until we reach 20 plus mph. If we select the sport mode, I have not noticed the spongy feeling on acceleration. I think that knowing how your car is going/supposed to respond when applying the brake or pressing the accelerator pedal is important the safety and confidence in driving one's vehicle. My wife has also experienced the parking brake reapplying when she is backing out of a parking spot at her work. The parking lot is on a slope. She backs up and when she tries to go forward it doesn't want to move. Then she looks and the parking brake is back on. She has to turn it off again to move. We also have been having issues with the rear hatch. The dealership has done the recall for the electric lift mechanism. We have issues when it won't open electrically and issues with it not latching. There was nothing in the cargo area to interfere with the hatch operation. We have addressed these issues especially with the transmission several times with the Jeep dealership and have left messages with no response to the messages. We currently have 20600 miles on the 2015 Cherokee.

SUV shuts off in the middle of road while driving normal speed, city or highway happens both; all lights on dash are flashing, brake light comes on for no reason, alerts to check transmission, check parking brake, check engine, car jus stops and wont move but engine still sounds like it's running, , and and all other electronic gauges are flashing...has been taken back to dealer two/three times in one month to fix but but the same problem always comes back again, . not impressed; I have owned Jeep all my life never had this problem, this SUV is dangerous, I bought this car and paid $38 thousand and have 19K miles on it. I even tried to trade it in with the same dealer and was told it was only worth 17K which is less than half what I paid for it a year and a half ago! how is this even legal" why am I making car payments for a SUV that Chrysler knows is defective and one which they have not resolved issues ? how can Chrysler get away with this ? and this is the auto manufacturer that our government financially bailed out a few year with our tax dollars? how would Chrysler respond if we all quit making payments on our loans " I have been researching thousands of other complaints, same Jeep, same year, etc. I am becoming more and more convinced that Chrysler really doesn't care. They got their money upfront ! furthermore they should not be allowed to continue to be in business while their products are known safety hazards to the consumer.! chuck D mount pleasant,

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. While driving 30 mph, the check engine and battery warning lights illuminated. In addition, the 'place the vehicle in park position' warning message displayed. The vehicle was placed into the park position and another error message illuminated stating 'place the vehicle in the desired gear'. the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after several attempts and the brake pedal was difficult to depress. The failure was intermittent. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 17,000.

  • 12,600 miles
On 06/04/16, at 12,600 miles, the Jeep failed completely on the freeway. We were driving 50 mph in heavy southern ca traffic when the 'transmission service required' light and the red check engine light flashed on and we lost all power. This happened instantly and without any warning. We had to throw on the hazard lights and Dodge oncoming traffic to move over 3 lanes to exit the freeway at less than 5 mph. This was a terrifying experience and we are lucky the Jeep did not cause a major accident! the tustin Jeep dealership did a software update and said it was fine. Fca has remained adamant that the problem is not mechanical, but software related and have released 3 software patches to date but we see no improvement. One week later on 06/13/16 the transmission was still functioning poorly (hard shifts, up shifting as you apply the break downhill, etc.) and then we had another problem. The alarm went off without warning and would not shut off, even when the Jeep's engine was turned on. Only after several minutes and pushing every button on the key multiple times did it finally stop. We took it to placentia Jeep and they looked into the transmission and alarm. After having our Jeep for a week, they did yet another software update for the transmission and disconnected the gps. They explained that the gps that was installed at the dealer after the fact was interfering with the factory installed alarm, and that caused the alarm to go off at random. This is a big problem because we were charged $1295 extra for that feature and it is now disconnected. The dealer also found that the battery power was below half, and they felt that the radio was pulling from the battery even when the Jeep is turned off. They found no resolution for this problem and asked us to return after a week or two to reassess the problems.

Takata recall, having issues with the computer stating that the vehicle four wheel drive is disabled and off, then was sitting at traffic light on 6/16/16 and its like the vehicle cut off ( to save energy) and then when it cut back on it had accelerated car to making me hit someone in the rear end. Unsure as to what is going on but dealer ship last did oil change at 17,000 miles and it came out with check engine on and they said nothing to worry about and cleared the code out. Then the four wheel drive message keeps coming up ( even when not in four wheel drive haven't even hit the button to switch it over) illuminates on message center. Seems like car has issues with something computer or electrical but most of all how safe is this vehicle if can rev up and accelerate without touching gas pedal. Have moderate damage to front end of car, tow hook was pushed back into the front of it and cant open hood having adjuster look at today and take to garage unsure as to what happened or why but doesn't seem very safe and it hit pretty hard but airbag on driver side didn't deploy makes it scary to think what if it decides to deploy while driving now...

Third time same issue. 2015 Jeep Cherokee. While vehicle in motion service transmission, service park brake, malfunction indicator light, D(drive) flashing on dashboard, barely made it up a hill, had to press accelerator all the way to floor. Very dangerous-other vehicles do not know what is happening. Occured 2 times in 2weeks after software updated. Not many regrets in my life but buying this vehicle tops the list.

I was on a road trip and stopped for gas, I was pulling my small travel trailer at the time. When I went to open the passenger door the car was filled with smoke and when the back hatch was opened there were flames coming out of the side panel on the drivers side in the back. There was a highway patrol right by me who ripped off the panels and got a fire extinguisher and put the fire out. The vehicle was stationary at the time. It was an electrical fire. It took ten days for it to get towed back to my home town to the Jeep dealership. They called me today and asked if there was a lightening storm where I was and if it was possible I got hit by lightening, which there was not. They have sent the information to chryslerjeep and are waiting to see how to proceed. He said there is now no power to any part of the car and mentioned something about having to possibly replace the entire body harness as there is a complete loss of controls and functions of the Jeep. I bought this Jeep brand new about 14 months ago. My dog was in the car at the time and had I left to go inside the gas station I am sure she would have died. I am extremely concerned about the electrical fire in my practically new Jeep and worry that even a fix is going to solve this from happening again.

Vehicle surges forward after a stop at numerous & unpredictable times since purchase. This is very dangerous! transmission has been replaced & continues to do this. There is not any predictability as to when this will occur. Have had vehicle in for service 6 times & they were 'unable to duplicate concern'. I would not be bringing my vehicle in if I didn't have a concern! I have never had as many issues with a new vehicle as I have had with this one! vehicle lurches/jerks/rocks when shifting from forward to reverse & reverse to forward--doesn't always engage immediately. Vehicle has revved with acceleration, would not go forward & then suddenly surged forward several times. Pulls to the right on level surface. Vehicle rolls forward after braking as brakes don't always grab. After a stop, car rolls forward. Many issues with radio jumping around on own & skipping preset stations, volume control, & speakers have gone in & out at random. Hands free cell phone doesn't always work. Navigation screen has gone blank/black while car still running. I have had a very loud alarm go on from navigation screen for unknown reason. I received an assembly 'ignition on' warning after I turned car off. Car wouldn't start after 3 tries, then started. As you can see, the one consistent thing is the surging forward, but always something new & different, also.

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the vehicle had a pinched wire. The vehicle was repaired. The vehicle was previously taken to the dealer to be serviced for a customer satisfaction campaign for the transmission control module and power train control module software update. Approximately five months later, while driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle accelerated independently and the rpms revved. The vehicle operated properly after the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle was repaired five times; however, the failure recurred intermittently. The failure mileage was 20,500.
