The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. While driving 30 mph, the check engine and battery warning lights illuminated. In addition, the 'place the vehicle in park position' warning message displayed. The vehicle was placed into the park position and another error message illuminated stating 'place the vehicle in the desired gear'. the vehicle stalled without warning. On 06/04/16, at 12,600 miles, the Jeep failed completely on the freeway. We were driving 50 mph in heavy southern ca traffic when the 'transmission service required' light and the red check engine light flashed on and we lost all power. This happened instantly and without any warning. We had to throw on the hazard lights and Dodge oncoming traffic to move over 3 lanes to exit the freeway at less than 5 mph. This was a terrifying experience and we are lucky the Jeep did not cause a major accident! the tustin Jeep dealership did a software update and said it was fine. Fca has remained adamant that the problem is not mechanical, but software related and have released 3 software patches to date but we see no improvement. One week later on 06/13/16 the transmission was still functioning poorly (hard shifts, up shifting as you apply the break downhill, etc.) and then we had another problem. The alarm went off without warning and would not shut off, even when the Jeep's engine was turned on. Only after several minutes and pushing every button on the key multiple times did it finally stop. We took it to placentia Jeep and they looked into the transmission and alarm. After having our Jeep for a week, they did yet another software update for the transmission and disconnected the gps. They explained that the gps that was installed at the dealer after the fact was interfering with the factory installed alarm, and that caused the alarm to go off at random. This is a big problem because we were charged $1295 extra for that feature and it is now disconnected. The dealer also found that the battery power was below half, and they felt that the radio was pulling from the battery even when the Jeep is turned off. They found no resolution for this problem and asked us to return after a week or two to reassess the problems.

Takata recall, having issues with the computer stating that the vehicle four wheel drive is disabled and off, then was sitting at traffic light on 6/16/16 and its like the vehicle cut off ( to save energy) and then when it cut back on it had accelerated car to making me hit someone in the rear end. Unsure as to what is going on but dealer ship last did oil change at 17,000 miles and it came out with check engine on and they said nothing to worry about and cleared the code out. Then the four wheel drive message keeps coming up ( even when not in four wheel drive haven't even hit the button to switch it over) illuminates on message center. Seems like car has issues with something computer or electrical but most of all how safe is this vehicle if can rev up and accelerate without touching gas pedal. Have moderate damage to front end of car, tow hook was pushed back into the front of it and cant open hood having adjuster look at today and take to garage unsure as to what happened or why but doesn't seem very safe and it hit pretty hard but airbag on driver side didn't deploy makes it scary to think what if it decides to deploy while driving now...

Third time same issue. 2015 Jeep Cherokee. While vehicle in motion service transmission, service park brake, malfunction indicator light, D(drive) flashing on dashboard, barely made it up a hill, had to press accelerator all the way to floor. Very dangerous-other vehicles do not know what is happening. Occured 2 times in 2weeks after software updated. Not many regrets in my life but buying this vehicle tops the list.

I was on a road trip and stopped for gas, I was pulling my small travel trailer at the time. When I went to open the passenger door the car was filled with smoke and when the back hatch was opened there were flames coming out of the side panel on the drivers side in the back. There was a highway patrol right by me who ripped off the panels and got a fire extinguisher and put the fire out. The vehicle was stationary at the time. It was an electrical fire. It took ten days for it to get towed back to my home town to the Jeep dealership. They called me today and asked if there was a lightening storm where I was and if it was possible I got hit by lightening, which there was not. They have sent the information to chryslerjeep and are waiting to see how to proceed. He said there is now no power to any part of the car and mentioned something about having to possibly replace the entire body harness as there is a complete loss of controls and functions of the Jeep. I bought this Jeep brand new about 14 months ago. My dog was in the car at the time and had I left to go inside the gas station I am sure she would have died. I am extremely concerned about the electrical fire in my practically new Jeep and worry that even a fix is going to solve this from happening again.

Vehicle surges forward after a stop at numerous & unpredictable times since purchase. This is very dangerous! transmission has been replaced & continues to do this. There is not any predictability as to when this will occur. Have had vehicle in for service 6 times & they were 'unable to duplicate concern'. I would not be bringing my vehicle in if I didn't have a concern! I have never had as many issues with a new vehicle as I have had with this one! vehicle lurches/jerks/rocks when shifting from forward to reverse & reverse to forward--doesn't always engage immediately. Vehicle has revved with acceleration, would not go forward & then suddenly surged forward several times. Pulls to the right on level surface. Vehicle rolls forward after braking as brakes don't always grab. After a stop, car rolls forward. Many issues with radio jumping around on own & skipping preset stations, volume control, & speakers have gone in & out at random. Hands free cell phone doesn't always work. Navigation screen has gone blank/black while car still running. I have had a very loud alarm go on from navigation screen for unknown reason. I received an assembly 'ignition on' warning after I turned car off. Car wouldn't start after 3 tries, then started. As you can see, the one consistent thing is the surging forward, but always something new & different, also.

The vehicle just froze up yesterday 15 Feb 2016. It would not start, the brakes were completely locked up on it. Tried and tried to get it to start and it would not. Took it in this morning on a flat bed hauler and took it to the dealership at I 77 Jeep in ripley wv. They first stated it was the emergency brake, then said it was the battery, but I guess it was me it her of those. So it's still there and no word what cause it. If it had locked up while my wife was driving it it would be a very bad results. The vehicle was stationedare and was in the garage.

My 2015 Jeep Cherokee latitude shut off on me while I was driving not even a full week of owning it. The vehicle gauges go to zero and I loose power steering and when I apply the gas pedal nothing happens. All I am able to do is press the brake pedal and hopefully not have anyone behind me so that I can try and pull over with no power steering. I have taken it into the dealer on several occasions showing them both video and photo documentation of what is happening and they have been unable to duplicate this issue and have not provided me with an alternative as to getting another vehicle or my money back. The vehicle first shut off on me 18sep2015 and has continued to do so on the highway and on city streets with the most recent time being 14feb2016. I have all of my documentation of every time its been in the shop for the same problem with no resolution being provided.

Purchased Jeep and have had safety issues with inconsistent shifting since day one. I have returned to the dealer 19 times for shifting issues and other complaints. At the present time I continue to have a "service shifter" light come on in the vehicle. The light comes on while the vehicle is in motion. You can try to reset the shifter to let the computer try to recognize the error, but it doesn't work. Technicians have told me not to drive with the light on as the car may shift in a different gear or even reverse. Chrylser star technicians keep resetting the software, however the light continues to come back on randomly. I have expressed my concerns and fears with the shifting, however they do not know what is causing the problem nor how to fix the issue so they continue to reset the computer. I do not feel safe driving the vehicle as I never know when the light will come on nor what it will do. Found error codes U146500 and P1C861D. Performed flash updates. Dates of issues: 6/29/15, 07/17/15, 09/06/15, 12/01/15. I also have problems with inconsistent shifting and take of. You can try to accelerate and the car will not go but the RPM's will rise. The car will suddenly take off after a 4-5 second delay. This has caused me great fear as sometimes you will go to turn and the car pauses before taking off. By the time it does take off you have turned in front of an oncoming car. Again Chrysler star technicians have told me I am "over sensitive" and the car functions as any 9 speed transmission is designed to do.

My car has had transmission issues from very early on. I can step on the gas, the engine revs up but does not register on the tachometer, then all of a sudden it catches and goes. I have been in 4 or 5 situations where I started pulling out into traffic and the car simply hesitated for several seconds before going. I actually had a very close call with a tractor trailer because of this hesitation. Also, you can step on the gas to accelerate and once at the desired speed then let off the accelerator and the engine stays at the accelerated RPM's for several seconds then shifts back out to normal RPM's. also, the car has had 4 separate electrical issues in 4 months as well. The check engine light comes on, then the engine cooling fan runs fast for about 30 minutes then shuts back down. I have had my vehicle at he dealership for problems 5 times in 4 months and they can't seem to find what the issue is or what to do to correct it.
