While driving the car will shut off completely, locking the steering wheel and rendering the brakes and the gas ineffective... the first time I was driving 65mph on the freeway and it shut off. Luckily there was no one on the road, I was able to coast to a stop, shift to park, and restart the engine... it proceeded to happen multiple times, no matter how fast I was driving.

Service shifter message keeps pop up randomly. It started at around 70,000 miles. Once the car is turned off and back on the message goes away. There seem to be a lot of complaints about this issue with Jeep Cherokee. Is there going to be a recall?

Driving along, "service transmission" light came on. At the next red light, when I proceeded to go, engine revved up and the car moved extremely slow like it wasn't in gear. This happen every time I stopped and started on the return home and the light went out. I drove it again and the same thing happen. Had it serviced at dealer and they said it was a short in wiring harness that goes to the transmission control module. See code S55 pertaining to transmission may shift unexpectedly to neutral. 2014 & 2015 Jeep Cherokee dated Aug. 6, 2106.

I've had to replace my low beams 10+ times this year. They keep shorting our. Also have to have my engine thermostat replaced even though it's working fine. It's electrical keeps causing my check engine light to come on. And the fix is replacing something that is fully working. And because my check engine light is on I can't makw it through deq to get tags for my car. This is the 3rd (separate) electrical problem I've had with this car and I'm done. Keep should stand up for their product.

I was leaving my neighborhood yesterday morning when my Jeep shut off without any warning or check engine lights and would not start. Thankfully I was still close to home and was able to go home in neutral! what if I were on the highway? or in the middle of an intersection! the screen said to put vehicle in park. The radio and lights still work but it does not start. I am financing this Jeep and have had it for 8 months from a dealership. I dont have an extended waranty and I dont know how to handle this... I looked up on carcomplaints.com and found identical complaints to mine of theyre new Jeep just shutting off mid drive. This needs to ba addressed. Im terrified of this car.

Shuts off after starting, display screen blacks out and radio doesn't work, engine light and brake lights come on and off. Heat and air conditioning settings keep resetting to halfway between hot and cold. Shuts off and slams into park or neutral. Gears drop heavily when shifting from park to drive. Computer keeps resetting. These things usually occur after starting and pulling away. You need to stop and restart the Jeep. These things have also occurred at 65mph. This has steadily been getting worse over the last 4 months.

The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred multiple times. The manufacturer stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 16V529000 (power train). The failure mileage was 77,000.

Electronic parking brake module connector water intrusion which causes the module to short out and the wiring harness corrosion. This causes the parking break to engage and disengage without warning. This also prompts an error that the 4WD is unavailable. Confirmed with patriot Jeep in oakland md that the 4WD will not work on 11/18/2019. I was able to get my car to move from my driveway by putting my seat belt on and holding the break, and then pressing the gas to release the parking break. Mopar told me this was not covered under warranty, and I found numerous complaints on this issue. I was also able to find a bulletin published by mopar about this issue. It appears there is water getting into the vehicle causing corrosion which could lead to an accident if someones brake would engage, or 4WD would fail in inclement weather.

Check shifter message. While driving. All the lidhts on the console light up. (P.R, N, D, S ) intermittenet problem and seems to be weather related (temperature change), the dealer has flashed the computer so the check engine light will not come on or register a code. Last night the Jeep stop in the middle of the freeway almost caused an accident with warnings of (shift to P then desired gear) and service airbag system. This is my life you are playing with, for you're on going defects. I am a loyal Jeep customer. I have a Jeep Wrangler, Jeep compass and sebring Chrysler. All I am asking is for my piece of mind and not worry about paying for anything when I have a defected and it's not safe to drive. Please respond and solved this problem asap. April, 2019: Every thing on the dash lit up. Car started to roll and we had to jump out of the car to stop it. It wouldn't go into park, but parking brake worked for a while. Car wouldn't turn off, locks wouldn't work. Nothing worked. Towed to dealer with Jeep on the whole way. A 18 month old child was with us. Dangerous. Repair did a tcm fix and said this was a catastrophic event that would not happen again. October 2, 2019. Pushed the start button ' car started but couldn't push down on brake. Couldn't move out of park. Would turn it off and it would turn right back on. Had it towed to dealer - have not heard back. In addition have had transmission issues for last two years. Car lurches when going around 30 mph, stalls a bit when just starting out driving from a stopped position

Car has been stutter starting. Once it finally starts I get an error code that says service park breaks service transmission. Then when putting Jeep into gear the transmission will shift hard and you can feel the car jerk and hear a clunking sound. Once you stop and turn the car off and back on a couple of times the error messages will go away and Jeep will drive normally. Two days ago Jeep had been driving normal. I stopped to get gas. After filling my tank I returned to the car to start it and the car would not start after inserting and turning the key I would not get a click or nothing. I also had no lights, not on the dash or out side of the car. After trying to jump start the car unsuccessfully I ended up having the car towed home. Once home the battery was removed and taken to be tested. I was told the battery was bad so I replaced the battery and Jeep started up fine however after starting I received the error message service park break and Jeep again would shift really hard. Error message went away Jeep started ro drive fine. Drove to the doctor and when I pulled into parking space Jeep got stuck in neutral. Finally got the Jeep to go into gear and went to drive back home and Jeep would not shift right and again jumped into neutral where it got stuck. Finally got home and parked Jeep waiting to get it into the dealer now. Jeep has 95000 miles on it.

I was driving on interstate and stepped on brakes because cars were slowing down when I began to brake the engine shut off. Message said shift to park and start engine. Cars were honking. I did what it read and it took seconds but turned back on. It took some explaining to the dealership after my personal research in waiting room for 4 hours. They found the codes"? it happened again but more seriously on a toad with traffic moving I stepped on brakes to make a left turn but it turned off! cars slammed on their brakes. I did what message said it took longer this time. I pulled into a parking lot and it turned off again when I stepped on brakes to park. I can't get a dealership to help me?" tomorrow I'm going back to the original service department that found the codes in January. This is scary.
