Cherokee

  • 17,000 miles
At 17,000 miles, I started having issues with my Cherokee. The first time the engine of the vehicle stalled on me, I was on my way to work. I powered off the engine and it successfully restarted after one attempt. I brought it to my dealership later that day to find out I was "out of oil", this was roughly 2500 miles into my most recent oil change (which is projected for 5000 miles). I was disappointed, due to the vehicle being a year old. The dealership added some oil and I was on my way. Shortly after, I started noticing the engine would rev to high RPM's when the vehicle was stationary, the RPM's would increase drastically when breaking, the vehicle would jump between gears 1-3, making increasing your speed extremely difficult as you never knew when the vehicle would actually take off. My dealership was "unable to duplicate " this issue, and I was sent on my way. Fast forward 9 months, and my vehicle dies on me as I am leaving work. However, this time, it took multiple attempts to restart the vehicle. I was finally able to start it by putting my foot on the gas, and any time I took my foot off of the gas, the engine would stall. I drove with two feet to the dealership that day, and found out once again I was "out of oil". the dealership recommended an "oil consumption test", which means bringing your vehicle to the dealership at various mile markers (500,1000, 2000, 2000). At this time, they would check the oil levels and refill any lost oil. Through this, I found out my vehicle was "burning through" 1 quart of oil every $666.67 miles. Chrysler guidelines say a vehicle of my specifications should use 1 quart in 2000 miles. This vehicle is a beautiful death trap on wheels, and such a disappointment to Jeep lovers everywhere. Stay away.

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. When the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle failed to respond and rolled back in reverse. The check engine and service transmission indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (perkins motors located at 1205 motor city dr Colorado springs, co 80905) where it was diagnosed that the system needed to be updated. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 28,000.

Driving my vehicle over the weekend while in motion on a city street my vehicle turned off and then turned back on, the vehicle turned completely off no power could not do anything the vehicle turned on and was able to continue driving. Where my family and I were extremely nervous the remainder of the time while driving home. Thank god I was not driving on a busy highway where this problem could have caused an accident where my family and myself could have gotten seriously hurt or worse could have killed someone in my vehicle or any other vehicle due to an accident. When the vehicle turned on again the check engine light came on and the start and stop system light came on advising to have the system checked, the rest of the time the vehicle was being driven home it constantly sounded like it was going to loose power and turn off.

Takata recall - the engin indicator light came on, on my way home but disappeared the morning when I started the Jeep. A few days later I drove it to a location where I stayed for 2 hours, left and got home where I stayed for a few minutes. Came back out to use the vehicle but the engine didn't 'turn over'. called the service because I thought it was the battery. They re-boot the car & I let the engine run for 1/2 hr. Per his instruction. The went to a drive thru and decided to head home but shortly after the Jeep shuts off at a stop light. I waited 5 min then restart and headed home with my hazard light flashing. I called the dealer and got 'an available' appointment four day thereafter.

Faulty engine sensors causes the car stall at anytime. Was driving when stopped at a red light my car stalled and the dashboard light up along with multiple error messages. It took 15 times for my car to restart. This issue is a completely unsafe and putting the driver and passengers at great risk. Currently my car is in the shop but have read similar stories online saying that this particular problem is associated with a transmission issue. Many stated this is known issue at Chrysler which they have done nothing to action the consumer.

One morning I started the car, I heard water moving from the engine area. While, driving the car I heard a noise's like a pressure cooker sounds. Once I arrived at work I walked around to the passage side to retrieve my staff. I could smelled antifreeze. I contacted Jeep right away and they contact a tow company. It was drop off. The dealership worked on it for a couple days. They did pressure test for external leak, didn't locate a leak. They didn't do a internal examine. It's 2 year old vehicles already leaking antifreeze. I have my vehicle into the dealership twice but still smell antifreeze. Two pressure test later nothing. I just pickup my vehicle for the second time. Why is Jeep vehicles having so many problem. My psi, transmission and radio making sounds when its off. Jeep is a bad vehicle and it just a matter of time, humans might be in damage due to the uncaring manufacturing company that makes lot's of money of the back of working americans.

  • 41,000 miles
I have a 2015 Jeep Cherokee sport 2.4L 4cyl. I bought it new in September of 2015. The original warranty is for 36,000 miles and at 41,000 miles, my check engine light came on. The Jeep would not warm up and blew luke warm air on the hottest setting. There was also a dripping sound heard from behind the front dashboard. Before I had the opportunity to take it in to the dealership for diagnosis, the electronic throttle control (etc) warning light came on. Driving your Jeep with the etc light on could lead to the complete engine failure. I took my Jeep in on Saturday to the dealership where I purchased it and they were unable to conduct a diagnosis because they only had limited staff there for the weekend. Therefor I had to continue to drive my Jeep for multiple days. I returned on Monday and they charged me $80 to run a diagnosis. The result was a faulty thermostat. They informed me they could fix it for $550-$600 dollars. They also informed me that the part was on backorder of more than 50,000 parts across the nation and it would take a couple weeks to have the part delivered. I ordered the thermostat housing part at a cost of more than $60. The part is only $20 on-line from their part distributor, but they marked it up another $20 and charged another $20 for shipping. I was informed it would take 4 hours to replace due to its location at $118 an hour, plus the cost of coolant. Since I have been waiting for my part, they would not provide me a vehicle and therefor my Jeep has overheated multiple times. With over 50,000 parts on back order and this being a Jeep manufacturer's defect, there should be a recall at no cost to the consumer.

Purchased brand new- at 20K miles had to have the gear shift motherboard replaced after the vehicle began to jolt when driving almost causing a wreck. It would jolt when coming to a stop or taking off. I was told it was the electrical component not relaying properly to tell the car to shift gears and what gear to shift to. I read several online forums where hundreds of people were having the same issue. That was in Aug of 2016. Now im having to take it in again because the check engine light is on. I do all maintenance service on time so not sure what the issue is this time but very upset that my 1st brand new car and I am experiencing issues so early on. Once I take it in for the check engine light I will update this to reflect what I am told is the problem.

The vehicle shut off when driving. After calling a Jeep dealer and asking if they where having any trouble like this. I also informed the dealer that the Cherokee had 36500 miles 500 over covered warranty. I was informed the work would not be covered so I took it to a local garage. Was told it needs a thermostat. Had to call a dealer after several attempts to locate the part. All the dealer said the part is on national back order. If the part is that popular to replace that you cant keep it in stock than there most be an issue. This vehicle is not safe if this part is causing the motor to shut off when driving down the road at highway speed. Their seems to be a lot of trouble with this vehicle. I hope Chrysler will not just let the issue go hoping that people just deal with it there self. Been to the garage 3 times and still have 5 years to pay for it. It is enough of a problem that I thought I would take this step.called Chrysler customer service first time was disconnected before I could type my massage. Second time was told they could put a rush on my part gee thanks.how about just make a vehicle that will not get someone killed by shutting of on the highway. We bought our 2015 Jeep Cherokee new. After about 6 months we had our first experience with the vehicles failure to shift to the necessary gear to continue to move. We have taken it back to the dealership to be fixed multiple times. We are often given multiple stories of what the problem is from the ac being on to needing a software update and being low on fuel! the "sticking transmission" created a very scary situation when you are trying to get the car to go in the middle of the intersection and it won't go! the vehicle doesn't appear to downshift as I slow down and when you go to accelerate, it's almost as if the car gets stuck between gears and then jerks really hard when it unexpectedly goes into gear. I am very worried I am going to need to move quickly and the car isn't going to go, resulting in a bad accident.

The transmission slips, stalls, hesitates at acceleration at any speed. Particularly worrisome when traveling on highways when it jeopardizes our safety! happens continually despite the Jeep dealerships attempts to repair. Still telling us it is a software issue and a day after service problem continues. No fix.
